You may reach the 1/2 century mark (and I haven't...yet..) and think you know a lot, but then you change your life and realize you don't know nothing.
People Skills
I've worked in corporate arena's for 20 years, and I'm used to the back-biting, ego-driven corporate culture. I'm now dealing with high school kids, managers 1/2 my age and a new twist, 'special' people. As a grocery store, we hire some mentally challenged baggers. This is new to me. I got frustrated the other day as I asked the bag boy to get something quickly for a customer and he couldn't read. I've never had to experience this, directly. Whe I worked for the printer, the CSR's had issues with changing some of the forms the press room had to read because some of the workers couldn't read and were used to looking for some information in certain places on the form. I didn't deal with it as that was a training issue for management to coordinate. So I guess what goes around comes around. I'm also dealing with foreign concepts. Our supervisor is from India, and doesn't seem to have a very good grasp of English. He's a good little drill sargent, pointing, calling your name, right on whatever you are doing. At first, I thought he may have issues with white women, but I was told he has issues with ALL women. So I have to sit down with this guy and let him know to lay off me. I know my job, I know what's expected of me and will do my job. He's also a very little guy, I'm at least his height or taller, and I think having SMA (short Man's Attitude) is a global issue, not just European (Napoleonic Complex)
Speaking of Complexes
What's all this from the Georgia politician from Savannah spouting off about the new work week demanded by the Democrats? Give me a break. The Republican work 'week' was Tuesday thru Thursday and now the Dems are demanding a 5 day work week. So this guy (and I don't remember nor can I find his name) goes on record as whining about how this hurts families and the Dems are not family friendly. This statement is a shining example of what is wrong with this Administration and politicians in general. They have lost touch with their constituants. They have no idea what it's like to get up and go to work 5 days a week, with 2 weeks off for vacation. They have no idea what it's like to pay taxes, plan for retirement, get laid-off and try to make ends meet. The political system is now working to ensure that only the rich get elected to represent the common people, due to the outrageous cost of running a campaign. We need campaign finance reform, we need immigration reform, we need line items vetoes, we need a government that is concerned with governing, not interfering with citizens lives, communications or habits and addictions. What has this Administration done for us? No immigration ideas, no action on campaign finance reform, just special sessions for gay marriage, Teri Shiavo and a total failure of FEMA after Katrina. Not to mention the many thousands killed in Iraq and Osama Bin-Laden still running loose. Thanks a lot.
And the next time your local government wants to pass laws to keep teenagers from killing themselves behind the wheel, lower the BAC level while driving or any other common-sense issue, see if they also increase police funding to hire more police to enforce these stupid laws. What good are these laws except to make the public feel good that their politicians are looking out for them. It's a ploy folks! They think we're stupid. And maybe they're right. We did vote Bush back in office, we let Bill Campbell in for 8 years and Cynthia McKinney for way too long.
Term limits are us, folks. We don't need any more laws about that, we ARE term limits. If they do a bad job, or get convicted, DON'T VOTE THEM BACK IN.
I'm not sure where this rant came from, but there you have it. I've got litter boxes to clean.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

Here you go...
"Keeping us up here eats away at families," said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who typically flies home on Thursdays and returns to Washington on Tuesdays. "Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families -- that's what this says."
I know a little bit, 'bout a lotta things, but I don't know enough yet, and I'll be 82 on February 11.
But, I do enjoy bloggin' on the Web. Perhaps a few unaware people will benefit...
