My social life is quite healthy this time of year, but my sleeping needs some catching up. But I'm better now!
Atlantic Station Market
My Saturday was taken up by having a tent at the Atlantic Station Market. This was my first endeavor at large craft fairs, so it was a learning experience. I learned:
I need a larger table
I need a mirror
I need some music
I need someone else to sit with me
The other vendors are friendly and helpful
It's useless to sit in the dark when selling jewelry
Try to 'dress up' a bit more, at least wear a plain t-shirt
It was a fun experience, even if I didn't eat anything but some snacks and a bit of coffee. I had some water, but it's difficult to drink water when you can't leave to go potty. (I know, too much information) It was VERY cold Saturday morning, warmed up quite nicely during the day, but when the sun set, it got cold quickly. By about 5pm, most everyone had left, and it was the dinner crowd out at that point. I'm sure the cold kept a lot of people away. I've also been told that jewelry does better in the spring.
Oh, yeah, I broke even.
Tired Old Bones
I was up and outta here by 8:30am on Saturday, and the craft fair was from 10am-7pm, so I sat for 8 hours in a camping chair. These are great little chairs, easy to carry, but no back support and the seat gets cold. So around 4:30, my back was killing me. I walked around a bit, but I was ready to blow that popsicle stand about 5pm. I waited until about 6:15, packed all my stuff and made the trek to my car. If you've ever been to Atlantic Station in a car, you know it's almost impossible to get around easily. I'm sure it's laid out with some plan, but it's beyond me. All the streets are One Way, and I think they are all the same way! They are also setting up the tents for Cirque de Soleil, which adds to the confusion. I finally found a good entrance spot and was packed up and outta there by 7:10. I got home, ate dinner and turned on the 10 o'clock news. I don't remember anything after that.
I had to be at work at 7am on Sunday, so I was outta here again by 6:45. I was tired, and my brain wasn't working too well. I remember thinking that I hadn't had that much water on Saturday, and I had a dream of an ice cold glass of water, so I was thirsty all morning. I didn't get to have any coffee, so by 1pm, I had a headache and my back was hurting again. I was afraid I was getting sick, with all the sick people coming into the store. I got home around 3:30, crashed on the couch for an hour and a half, and had to go off to another party. I got home by 10pm, and turned on the news and I don't remember anything after that. I got up this morning at the crack of 10am. I don't like sleeping that late, and I was awake at 7am, but me and the kitties just cat napped for awhile. I feel much better, but I'll be taking some Aleve before I go to work tonite.
Gay Drama
My hairdresser called Saturday night, but I was too tired to pick up the phone. I got in touch with him today, and he's doing well in Oklahoma. He's living with his brother and his family, not going out, not partying and just working. Good for him. He's trying to tie up some loose ends from his debacle here and will come back when he can. God, I hope he's getting his stuff together. He gave me a recommendation for another hairdresser, now do I trust his judgement?
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
