I could sleep in this morning, could you? ;-)
Gay Pride and Other Adventures
Actually, this was a fairly calm weekend, just the Hash on Saturday. And a birthday party. And the RAIN!!!
The Gay Pride Hash was fun, a bit warm, but short. Every year I've done the hash, I haven't taken much time going thru the Festival to look. Next year, maybe. I'm a people watcher, and Gay Pride is definately someplace to watch people.
The hash was a Joint Hash (that sounds so evil!) and even the WheelHoppers ended with us. Lot's of new faces, lots of faces I haven't seen in awhile, and lots of faces I've seen alot of lately. When I first got there, I was trying to find a place to put my chair and some guy paid me a compliment. I was flattered, then I remember it was Gay Pride, so he probably didn't mean it anyway. But I'll take what I can get!
Before circle, I was just talking with some hashers and one of the used the word 'acerbic'. That really took me by suprise. Most words you hear at a hash are along the lines of 'Beer', 'shiggy', f*ck', 'Beer', so to hear this was quite suprise. Someone has been reading their Yatching Book...
Rain!
I guess only homeowners can get off on this, but it Rained all day yesterday. After the hash on Saturday, I went to a birthday party for a friend. It was quite a nice party, and there were other hashers there. I left just as the rain started, and when I got home I sat on my front porch in the dark just to listen to the rain. It was difficult to distinguish between the rain falling and the ground sucking it up. It's supposed to rain all day today, too. When I went out to get the paper this morning, I realized today is a good day to do some weeding, they come out so easily. So guess what I'll be doing?
Friday
Sorry I didn't post on Friday. I had an interview Friday am, but the most important thing was I'd been to the gym on Wednesday and Thursday. I couldn't move on Friday. It's not because my muscles hurt so much, it's because I was so tired. I'm not as young as I used to be, but frankly I thought I'd taken it easy enough. I used light weights as I didn't want to be so sore I wouldn't go back, but I guess I need to work on my durability.
Movies
So the latest NetFlix movies I've watched were 'A Mighty Wind' for Guffman' on Friday and 'Adaptation' Sunday. 'Wind' was good, along the same lines as the other movies ('SpinalTap', 'Best of Show') all about the folk music scene of the '60's. I think it's especially good for those of us who (sort of) remember that scene. I'm a bit too young to remember it the first time, but I was into lots of different kinds of music when I was in high school, and lots of the roots went back to the Folk era. Bob Dylan was still understandable and Jerry Garcia was still drugging and alive.
'Adaptation' was weird. I'm usually into that kind of stuff, the odd plot twists and stuff, but I just couldn't like it too much. Nicholas Cage, usually pretty good eye candy, looked more like a red-headed step child, which was part of the plot, but I just couldn't like the guy. He was extremely negative towards himself and was just a jerk. And what happened was just too over the top. I thought at the end it would all be part of his screen-play that he was writing.
Tonite is some eye-candy, 'Tailor of Panama' with Pierce Brosnan and Geoffry Rush. I think I could watch Pierce Brosnan read the phone book and be entertained.
Job Hunt
As mentioned before, I had a face-to-face interview on Friday to follow up with the phone interview I had on Thursday. I don't think any bells went off for anyone. I interviewed with 3 people, 2 guys and a woman. The 2 guys controlled the interview, they asked questions and set the tone. They almost closed the interview when the woman said she wanted to ask some questions. So that said to me that it is possibly a Little Boys Shop and girls can play only cuz they can't be kicked out. I've played in those shops for a long time now, and I'm tired of it.
I should hear back about the other interviews I went on this week, hopefully. Keep your fingers crossed.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
