Unfortunately, just because I didn't blog doesn't mean something good happened. SSDD. And it's raining. Bummer.
Job Hunt
The activitiy on some of the job sites (Dice.com, Monster.com, AJCjobs.com) seems to be pretty high. Lots of new postings daily in IT, so the jobs are there, or will be there. I've had several contacts from head hunters, so there must be some demand for my desired position. Again, just wait...
I started getting emails from CareerBuilder.com pertaining to Admin jobs in LA, but I couldn't figure that out. I finally logged on to Careerbuilder.com using my email address, but I already had an account there. I started reading the resume and it most definately wasn't me. So I called CareerBuilder Customer Service (got thru on the first ring and got a human!) Seems this other woman typed in the wrong email address, set up her account and never heard anything again as all the jobs were coming to me. So the CSR told me just to take over the account and make it mine, the other woman had created an account with the correct email address. I'd never heard of this happening and neither had the CSR, but I suppose it is in the realm of reality... DUH. Anyway, I started changing stuff (name, address, jobs wanted, etc), but I almost missed the check box asking if you'd ever been convicted of a felon. Evidently this other woman had. Oh great. But I did get that, triple checked all the data to see that I had removed everything she had put in and All Is Well. Even as I was posting this stuff, a headhunter saw my resume and called. Little Things keep me happy now.
OnLine Dating
Before I parted company with my last job, I had decided to try some online dating again. I had some luck with that in the '90's, but tired of the quality of men I was meeting then. (That really wasn't online dating, it was personal ads in print. The internet wasn't that big back then, and it was in South Florida...) I had tried one service but was very disappointed in the response (none!) . So I felt I was emotionally ready to Try Again. I did make contact with 2 guys, and started some emailing, but then I Lost My Job.
Dating and Job Hunting are very similar, you have to put up a good front, try to impress someone and be able to accept rejection. I an not emotionally healthy enough to handle both types of rejection at this point, so I'm not doing the dating thing. The Job Thing is more important, as it will pay my bills.
Now, that being said, I did go ahead and meet with both of these guys. It has given me a new outlook. They were both very nice, interesting men, who knew how to look me in the eye when I spoke to them, we were able to have a conversation, not just talk about them. If nothing else, I made some new friends. Unfortunately, both are GU (Geographically Undesireable) as one lives in Cuming and the other in Peachtree City, but I'm not saying that's a deal breaker. However, both were willing to travel close to me to meet, which is always a big thing in their favor.
If either one asks again, I'll go out with them, my problem is I'm not terribly interesting right now, with no human contact. I'm sure they don't want to hear all about my kitties.
So maybe next time, I'll have some good news.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
