And Then There Were 3

Well, the time finally came on such a beautiful Saturday morning. I had to put Misty down suddenly. She was having trouble breathing, so I called the vet and they said to bring her in. They gave her a quick exam and determined the only thing we could do is put her on more medication, tap her chest and hope for the best. She had lost another pound since I took her in last (just a few weeks ago) and we still weren't addressing her kidney failure, so I decided to just let her go.
She was never one to sit in my lap, or even on the couch when I was there but on Wednesday and Thursday she came and cuddled with me on my chair. I kinda suspected at the time that the end was near. It was very sad, losing a companion of 8 years is tough. I had to go get my haircut later on Saturday, so I had to get over it. When I got home from the vets, Miss K was very attentive. She was so cute, comforting me. I think she realized I left with a kitty but came back with an empty carrier, so she wanted to be sure she didn't piss me off.

Easter Sunday Dinner
I went over to Stacy and Phil's house for Easter dinner/supper yesterday. We had ham and some type of cauliflower concoction which was wonderful, green bean casserole, salad, deviled eggs and dessert. I brought some wine, but Phil had made a wonderful punch with a punch. So we ate dinner, and dessert and sat out on his deck and drank. It was a great, relaxing afternoon, just banter about nothing. Then She showed up. And the whole party became all about Her. And I left.

And the Earth Moved
Tomorrow is the 100th anniversary of the San Francisco Earthquake and last night there was a show on the History Channel about the earthquake and fires and the recovery effort. Very interesting. When the Big One comes again, and it will, San Francisco will again be destroyed. That's what we get for building on fault lines. So the US taxpayers will have to pick up the tab to rebuild a major city in an unstable place, just like we are for rebuilding New Orleans in a flood zone. Europe and the rest of the world had time to get it right, their major cities are built on stable land and they have ruins where citites were built where the shouldn't have been. But we Americans are better even than God and can keep our cities in areas where they shouldn't be because we have technology and money.

Today
Today is my niece's birthday. She's turning 33. There aren't many in my family, but our birthdays are in groups. My Mom's birthday is next Monday, then both my sisters have the same birthday (June 4), then my brother-in-law is Sept 15 followed by his oldest grandson on the 17th (I think.) My other niece is 23 October, my Dad (21 Nov) and the youngest great-grandchild (22Nov). I, however am all alone with a birthday in February. (My oldest niece's husband, the neo-Nazi, racist skinhead pig supposedly shares my birthday, but I doubt he was born, he was found under a rock or crawled out of the sewer. Let me tell you how I really feel.) My mom also shared her birthday with her next youngest brother.

So anyway, Happy Birthday Gretchen.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
