All is Well

I got notice that my taxes have been accepted by the IRS. WoooHooo. It's supposed to rain today. Good, we need it. I was watering some plants last night at 9pm. What a dedicated homeowner.

GNO and East Atlanta
I met some girlfriends last night for GNO (Girls Night Out) for dinner and 'ritas in East Atlanta. As I walked in to the restaurant, there was a young lady standing by the door who obviously worked there. I greeted her with a smile and a 'Hello' thinking she was the hostess and was going to ask how many in my party. The look I got from that young lady was an extremely cold, annoyed stare. I felt I was from another planet. Now, admittedly, I look middle-aged and middle-class, not Hip and Edgy. My friend, Kat said this girl (who turned out to be my waitress) treats everyone like that, but when Kat showed up, the waitress became another person. This young lady has to learn better people skills if she intends to work as a customer service type person.

We had an enjoyable evening, sitting outside just talking. The restaurant was OK, I can't say as I'd make an effort to go back, but it was fun. East Atlanta is a pretty vibrant spot, lots of shops and restaurants and people out enjoying the weather. A few of the large, annoying vehicles went by with their 'Boom-Boom' boxes blaring, but it wasn't too bad. About 7 years ago I looked at a house in East Atlanta, but decided that I wouldn't feel comfortable living there alone, so I opted for a safer neighborhood. That area now is on fire, real estate prices are outrageous. But I think I made the right decision, I can leave stuff outside and not worry about it being stolen.

Stupid Criminals
I drive passed the Atlanta Police Academy on my way to work everyday. This morning, there was a police car with lights on investigating and accident directly in front of the Academy. Evidently someone took out a car or cars parked in front of the school. OK, Mr. Criminal, that was a great move. Let's take out future policemens cars, too. But if it wasn't a criminal, it was a Future Atlanta cop. Where do they find these guys, anyway?

What Were They Thinking?
I came upon this editorial in the AJC today written by Bob Barr. I never cared for Mr. Barr while in office, but now that he isn't towing the party line, I actually agree with a lot of what he says. He's still on thin ice when he starts preaching morals, but some of his government ideas make perfect sense. This article talks about the 'Millenium Challenge Account' and how the US funds smaller countries in their Fight Against Terrorism. OK, so now we can all sleep at night knowing that Cape Verde is safe. But what about our borders? What about our ports? Why isn't the government doing ANYTHING about illegal immigrants? (Because Big Business gets tax cuts for their illegal employees, but doesn't have to pay the taxes because these people are illegal.) This is an excellent example of Government Hipocracy, 'Do as I say, Not As I Do'.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
