Good News
I took Misty to the vet yesterday and she's doing well. She hasn't lost any more weight and all the blood tests say her kidneys are doing well and she's eating enough. She's been more 'active' having gotten off the porch and been chased by a dog and she's lurking around when I'm eating, waiting for a handout. The liquid medicine she gets is made by a pharmacy in Tucker. They are one of the few pharmacies that compound drugs, which means making them at lower or higher doses than the drug companies. The medicine I'm giving her is for humans, but at much lower dose. This pharmacy is so cool, they flavor the medicine. This last batch was 'fish' flavored, which meant Misty smelled like low-tide for the last few weeks. I've asked they change the flavor to 'beef', so I guess she'll smell like fertilizer or hamburger for a while.
Miss Katrina also went to the vet, I wanted him to demonstrate how to cut her claws. You would think I was cutting her leg off with the way she yowls and squirms and bites and scratches. Well, he tried and she was somewhat cooperative, but he said that some cats just take time. Great. Then we put her on the scale. 11.4 lbs. When I brought her home at the begining of September, she topped the scales at 6.5 lbs. Almost doubled her weight in 6 months! What a pig! Hopefully she won't become Decatur's answer to the 45 lb cat.

Come on Cindy, get over yourself. A security guard at a governement building in DC didn't recognize her and stopped her. She hit him. Way to go. She wasn't wearing her Congressional ID pin, so what do you expect? I'm not sure I'd recognize her and she 'represents' me. To her credit, she offered an apology.
What a great country!
A friend of mine espouses much more conservative views than I do. Whenever we get together, we know of several things we just don't talk about. (Love ya BB!) I was raised in a Republican family, and my mom's family was Republican from way back. (I have campaign buttons from Taft's run). But I have made my own decisions about what I feel is right for me. I'm a registered Independant and have even voted Libertarian, but I think I'm a centrist, I think some conservative ideas are good, and I think some liberal ideas are good. Anyway, I'm still trying to figure out what this is all about! My dear friend, BB sent me this but I can't really reproduce it here. I think you can figure it out:

Hhuummm. What can I say? The President who amassed an unprecedented budget deficit, who refused to fund the AIDS battle, who encouraged the Moral Majority and conservative Christians to become more involved with the government? The President who's wife and her psychics controlled the White House for the last few years of his term?
So BB, let's agree to disagree. BTW, today is the 25th anniversary of the attempted assassination of Reagan by John Hinkley. He recently got approval to leave the institution and visit his parents.
