Twas the day before the day before Christmas....
Traffic was nonexistant this morning. I had to stop to get gas at a QuickTrip on my way to work. It was by no means as crowded as it usually is, but there were still issues getting to the pump. You have to circle around a few times to get an empty pump on the right side of your car, and someone else times it just right and pulls in before you. Darn! So what do you do? Back into the spot? Drive around AGAIN? And how much gas do you have anyway? Too many decisions for so early in the morning!

So the government accidently listened to citizens conversations by mistake, all in the name of 'national security'. I have a problem with this. I am not doing anything wrong, but I certainly don't want Uncle Sam to be in on my conversations. They claim to be spying on suspected terrorists, but what is their definition of suspected terrorist? And once they get the approval to spy on one group of people, what's to stop them from adding more to the list? This is really scary!

'We Want to Spend More Time Promoting Non-Violence'
So the King family wants the National Park Service to take over the MLK Center, so they can spend more time promoting their fathers' ideals of non-violence. I'm not up on a lot of the civil rights activities going on now, but what have the King kids done to promote non-violence? I'm aware of them suing companies for the right to use MLK's name, but what have they done to promote his ideals? Yes, to have a father that was so dynamic and vital in changing ideas has to be tough, and anything they do will probably fall short of expectations, but the kids seem to have more of a reputation for slacking than for civil rights. So they are dumping a debt-ridden organization on the taxpayers so they can continue whatever it was they were doing. What a great country!

Have a good Christmas/Hanukah or whatever. I'm having some friends over Christmas Eve to have some wine and cheese and conversation. Should be lots of fun. I have to be back at work on Monday, so til then..
