I had a very different Christmas this year! What fun! I had about a dozen friends over and we played Uno. The last person left my house about 1:30pm on Christmas Day! We had at least 8 bottles of wine, some jello shots, cheese, bread, artichoke dip, cookies, finger foods and eggnog lattes. Uno is a great game, you match colors and numbers and words. No thinking involved. The more you play and the more you drink, the louder the game becomes and the more fun. We've played this for years on Ski Club trips. We had so many people playing one year, after all cards were dealt we had 5 cards in the pickup pile! It got so loud and obnoxious, we had to create a rule that you couldn't talk unless you held the banana. That banana looked gross at the end of the evening.
I forgot to hash....
I had so much to do on Christmas Eve with getting everything ready, I didn't make it to the Pinelake/Atlanta Christmas Eve hash. I heard only about 40 people showed up. It was a good day, warm with the threat of rain, but I just had too much to do. I didn't make the Black Sheep Christmas Day hash either. As much fun as hashing is, the drinking is getting to me. I'm trying to loose weight, so the exercise is good, but the beer is bad. I'm really not much of a beer drinker anyway. But they are good people, for the most part.
And the next big hurdle!
I've been invited to 2 New Years Eve parties, one downtown and the other in Marietta. I don't think I'll do either. The one in Marietta is at Neal's house and they have many accomodations for the crashers. They will also have plenty of booze. The one downtown is some other hasher friends, but I'm afraid it's mostly couples. New Years is all about couples, and I'm not one, and I don't really need to be reminded. I like to spend it with friends and at both parties, I'll have friends. But no one wants to be on the road after midnite. I could crash at either party, then do the Cheddarhead on Sunday, but I may just stay home. I will want to do the Cheddarhead. That hash is so much fun! And this is the only time of the year I can wear my cheese hat!
New Years Resolutions
The start of the new year is always a good place to try to change things. I make resolutions, try to accomplish them, and by February I've pretty much forgotten them. I know I'm not alone with that, but I do it anyway. You know the usual, loose weight, be a nicer person, get more organized. I'm trying to 'remake' myself (again!) so I want to find new groups and organizations to attend. I have some in mind but I need to get a plan. I'd like to start working out again, but January is a horrible time at the gym. Everyone makes the same resolutions and they all start after the holidays. By February it's gotten more back to normal. I've kind of lost interest in the gym anyway. Too crowded, too many people hogging the machines, too many lines to get to the machine. I'd rather walk outdoors. But in January, it's cold and it gets dark too soon. There's always an excuse, huh?
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
