I'm not going anywhere for Christmas this year, but for once, I have some gifts for my family. I realized on Monday that I need to get them in the mail ASAP. Guess they'll be getting their gifts late. I'm not going home because I'm newly employed and have no vacation, but going home to visit the family is always a double-edged sword. I'm the only kid to move away from home, so I think there is a bit of resentment from my Mom. My Dad and I have always had a volitile relationship, and he's not mellowing too much with age. He knows my buttons to push and doesn't hesitate to push them. You try to ignore it, but you tend to revert back to childhood when you go home, so it's like walking on eggshells. I know I should enjoy my parents while I still have them and, as my Mom has always said 'You'll miss me when I'm gone!'. She has a very strange sense of humor.
Count your blessings
A friend of mine sent me a very beautiful and profound email. One of those Thomas Kincaid powerpoint slide shows, with all the warm and fuzzy's. It stated a very interesting fact, if you're parents are still alive and still together you are better off than most. Well, I'm just one lucky chicky! My parents are still together (almost 60 years!) and my older sister and her husband are still together (almosts 40 years!). When we do have family get togethers, we have 4 generations: parents, children, grand-children and great-grand-children. It's always interesting, never a dull moment.
Great Marketing
I heard on the radio yesterday that they are planning on opening a new club at Underground. The marketing rep said that she'd been robbed 4 times in Buckhead, so she felt safe at Underground. That's a great marketing line: 'It's safer than Buckhead!'. I was at Underground late one night for totally innocent reasons, and I did feel really safe. The police presence was quite impressive. They were everywhere in plain view. I haven't been to Underground in quite a while, but if they have gotten rid of all the vendors and beggars, it would be a great place.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
