Back to the Same Old Same Old

Wow, this will be the first full week I've worked since the begining of November. A woman of leisure, for sure....

Happy Turkey Day
Did everyone have a good day? I went to a friend's house and met some new people and renewed some old acquaintences. We watched the end of the Dallas game and there was much conversation about the Cowboys. Most people don't like them, some do. I definately don't. I am a Washington Redskins fan, and have been since the days of Sonny Jergenson and Billy Kilmer, George Allen and Larry Brown. Love those guys. Lately, they've had their ups and downs, but I really don't follow them as closely as I used to. But I Still Hate the Cowboys. What got this all started, at the party there was another Redskin fan who just happened to go to a rival high school the same time I was in high school. He lived not to far from where my parents are. Funny how you go 600 miles away and find an old neighbor.

Didn't eat too much, we even took about a 2-mile walk after dinner. Great fun!

Black Friday
Not for me. I hate shopping. I hate malls. I hate crowds. Who in their right mind would get up at 5AM to go shopping? I can't even get up at 5am to go to work! I did manage to get to some stores off the beaten path (Office Depot, Dollar Store) near a mall, but I didn't see too much traffic at the mall.

Saturday I went to Michael's, which wasn't too bad, Marshall's and Ross were another story. They always seem to be a mess. On a whim, I stopped by a Best Buy and looked around. I'm in the market for a HDTV, and if you can get 2-years-same-as-cash, I'll get mom and Dad one, too. So I looked around to get some ideas. I don't want a 42'' screen, my wall isn't that large, but the 20" screens look awfully small... I did make a purchase, though. I'm almost into the 21st Century, I bought an MP3 Player. I got a small, cheap version, heck I don't have 500 songs to put on their. I've ripped 5 or 6 CD's and I'm running out of room quickly. Just like purchasing a PC, buy the most memory you can at the time. So now I've got this tiny listening device that, hopefully I won't lose. But I'm cool. No, it's not an iPod, I wanted AM/FM reception, and iPod's don't have that.

I also got a demo of a product called 'Control 4'. Oh My God! Even I can have a Smart House with this device. I want to run speakers in each room, and this thing will do it WIRELESSLY. You can also listen to Different music in different rooms! It can also control lighting, thermostat, TV and the security system. And I don't have to have anything wired or installed (OK, not too much installed). The price they quoted me for the controlling device and installation was amazingly cheap. And it could work with most of my devices now, but why would I want to use analog TV's, stereo's, speakers, etc? So now I'll need a TV, Home Entertainment Center, 7 sets of speakers, a new thermostat and a garage. (This system will also close garage doors, but I don't have one, so I'll have to get one!) The only thing it doesn't do is change the litter boxes, but I'll bet that will happen soon! And if I have to move, I just unplug it and off we go. Amazing.
