Seems like any other day to me...
Random Thoughts
I think I'm going to chuck it all and become an Ice Road Trucker. Have you seen this show on the History Channel? Hey, they only work 2 months out of the year and they make Mega bucks, why not? I can stand -70 degree weather and constant danger. Hell, you experience danger just driving on I285 here in Atlanta!

If the NFL wants to change it's image, they will have to start getting rid of ANY player involved with any type of litigation, guilty or not. Just by associating with that type of people should not be accepted.

I'm angry at the US Senate. (No! Really??) their recent filibuster to get the GOP to vote to pull the troops out of Iraq was a waste of Taxpayer money. Yes, we need to get out of Iraq, Bush doesn't get it, but spending our taxpayer money on such a dog and pony show is unforgivable. Before y'all start screaming about the Democrats, the Republicans are JUST AS BAD. It's so easy to spend other people's money!
These men and women are supposed to be working for us, but they are working for themselves and their pocketbooks. They are playing with these issues, but what has been done about health care? Social Security? Immigration? Homeland Security?

I haven't seen 'Sicko' yet but I hope it starts some conversations. (This review I linked to was from, of all places, Fox News.) We have to stop start getting something done and not fixating on Gun Contro and Abortion. Those are important issues, but we should agree to disagree and move on. Health care and social security issues that effect all of us and are IN TROUBLE. In coverage of the 2008 Presidential race, be aware of the times the candidates and the press cover topics such as health care and social security. They will fixate on abortion and Gun Control and ignore the REAL issues.

I'm reading a very interesting book 'The Lost German Slave Girl' by John Baily . It's a true story about a German immigrant sold into slavery and trying to get her freedom. It touches on immigration and immigration laws, slavery and slavery laws in the 1840's, and a bit of New Orleans history. Only 1/2 way through, and I've learned lots. Written by an attorney, it's an easy read, with lots of facts. I recommend it, if you want to think about how things were and how they are now.

Grady Hospital is about to declare bankruptcy. The state of Georgia has a surplus of $600 million, and the GOP wants to give it back to the taxpayers. (It's almost election year, remember?) I say, ya got it, use it! PeachCare is in trouble, Grady hospital is in trouble, fix it with what you've got on hand. We don't need to cut any more programs (except maybe some pork programs, but that's another issue!) and the state has possession of that money. Sonny, to his credit, is against giving the money back.

Sonny Purdue could be tapped to be Vice President of the United States. Oh My GOD! What a horrible thought.

I saw a segment on a TV talk show this morning about a new interactive game for kids, where they dance on a mat on the floor, either following the video or creating the video, I couldn't tell. It makes the kids get up and move, and dance and exercise. You know what the show was reporting on? That doctors have found that this type of game burns more calories than one where the kids are sitting at the keyboard. Duh! And they paid these people how much?

There is a new commercial for the Hyundai Big 'Duh' Sales Event that I noticed yesterday on TV. Hysterical, especially with the release of 'The Simpsons Movie' opening soon. They aren't related, but I thought the link was good. The commercial is all about how buying a Hyundai is a no brainer. Great ad hook.
Have a good weekend!
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

Speaking of health care and democrats, I saw an article on the drudge report saying that Dick Cheney was going to take over the country for a few hours while Bush gets a colonoscopy. At first I was alarmed, then I realized this is a good thing. They may find 'W's head .....I know he lost it a while ago....And that will be good for the country....
Here is a thought, lets get rid of all the politicians in Washington and elsewhere and start over again. Start witha clean slate. No one gets to stay, get rid of them all and maybe we can get it right this time.... They are all idiots and we need to ship everyone in Washington to the moon and then they can debate what ever they want and we neither need to hear it or to pay for it.
