Virginia Tech

Never thought I'd entitle a blog like that.

The shootings are a terrible tragedy. I heard about it when I called my Mom around lunch time. She said she'd talked to my sister, but couldnt' give me anymore information. I turned on CNN and watched it 'unfold' so to speak. I went to school very near Va Tech and my sister and brother-in-law and cousin went to Va Tech. It's a huge campus. In my day, I believe the dorm, Ambler Johnson was the freshman dorm and I have no idea about Norris. Blacksburg is a very small town in the rolling hills of Virginia. The major industry in that part of the state is Va Tech, Radford University and the Radford Arsenel. Not much else going on. When I went to Radford, Va Tech was the best supply of men for miles. There was the guys at VMI about an hour up the road or the redneck boys at Ferrum, but who wanted them??!!

The folks at CNN are annoying. They kept asking the students they interviewed if they felt safe on campus and if they'd been worried about the lack of notification about the shootings. Seems the angle they were working was the lag time between notification of the first shooting and the start of the second shooting. None of the students interviewed on the air would say that. They all said the college kept them informed as best they could, considering the circumstances.

Job Hunt
I went to my BA Certification Study Group last night. It's an interesting group. Tonite is the IIBA meeting and I'm off Wednesday and Thursday. I discovered Linke-in yesterday. What a cool tool! Linked-in allows you to connect with professionals or co-workers or college buddies. When I'm invited to join, I become linked-in to all your contacts and your contacts contacts. A great way to network!

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
