We Survived!

I guess we all survived Friday the 13th. I don't really have issues with that, it usually seems that Thursday the 12th is my bad luck day. But I don't believe in all that stuff.

Weekend Recap
This was a beautiful weekend! It started with 'Othello' at the Shakespeare Festival, with chicken wings, broccoli salad and 3 bottles of wine. Then we went to LeighAnn's house for 2 more bottles. The 'designated driver' was an attorney friend of mine, so we felt safe! LOL! Saturday was spent trying to find my friend Jill's house (OK, we're not that close!) to check out her garage sale. Never did find it, so I went to buy some beads. While shopping, I got a phone call about the Hash starting near my house, so I went to the start of that. From there I went to a ASH/SOA picnic and softball game. After that I ended the evening at the On After of PineLake.
Sunday was more of the same, the Candler Park Fall Fest, the end of the WheelHopper and a ASH/SOA chili party.

Middle-Aged Baseball or 'I've Fallen and I cant' get up!'
I can say this stuff as I, too am Of a Certain Age. There were a lot of men at the softball game, and some of the women played at least the first few innings. Then we all sat and watched the men play. Everytime there was a base hit, someone got hurt, trashing ankles, arms, knees, etc. It was hysterical! Next year they're bringing a vat of Aleve. I imagine all these guys are Really Hurtin today. God Bless them. Hey, I admit when I look in the mirror I still see myself as a vibrant, 20-somethin. I don't see the wrinkles. Remember Back In The Day when you'd see an old lady with painted on eyebrows and laugh? She probably didn't see herself as old and something to laugh at, she saw herself as a young girl. So getting back to all these guys, they still think of themselves of viril 18-year-olds, until they hurt themselves. But who doesn't ?

Doctor
I had to go to the doctor today to recheck the blood pressure issue (what's this about getting older??!!) and all is well. I have to go back in 6 months. I took some blood tests and my 'Bad' cholesterol was up to the 'be careful' stage, so the doctor gave me a finger wagging and a lecture. I took some more blood tests today. When I weighed in, I was 2 lbs down from last time, plus I had on sweats and tennis shoes, which I didn't last time, so that's a good thing. I guess cutting down on alcohol does work!

Random thoughts
Ever noticed on TV all the computer geeks never use a mouse? No one uses a mouse, they all use a keyboard. I guess it's hard to suggest movement when you can't hear any clicking.

It's not safe to eat any food any more. I guess the weight-loss will come faster now. I haven't heard anything about bad vodka or wine or beer, so I guess that's all we can drink... Bummer(?)

Governor's race: We've got Sonny Purdue (no relation to the chicken guy) calling Mark Taylor and liar and Mark Taylor calling Sonny a liar. I'm voting Libertarian. I voted Libertarian for governor last time, I didn't like Purdue and I didn't like the way Barnes forced legislation thru. (You remember, the Flag thing. It had to be changed, but I don't like the way he did it.) As soon as America wakes up to realize we have a MULTIPLE party system, and starts voting for them, nothing will change. Especially with the parties being such simpletons and cheaters. So vote Libertarian, they haven't screwed up anything yet.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
