Cold and Dreary

It's VERY cold in my house. I don't have the heat on yet, but it still could get warm, so I'll wait. I have a space heater, and really, the only room that needs to be warm is the one that I'm in, right?

A Rude Awakening
So I'm not the young, active woman that I used to be. My blood pressure, weight, blood sugar, and cholesterol is all up, the interest from the Male population is Down. I had to go to the dermatologist on Tuesday to get a spot on my scalp looked at, and they took a biopsy. (I'll know in a few days. )After working a 9 hour shift yesterday, my back hurts, my feet hurt and I slept until 9am because I was tired. I'm not getting any younger, although I still look in the mirror and it's still the same face looking back as it was 25 years ago, I don't see the 'ravages of age'. The other girls I started with are both under 20. They were born after I graduated from college.

I know all (OK, most!) of my complaints will be resolved by losing weight. So why don't I? Well, if losing weight were easy, there wouldn't be any fat people, now would there? Surgery is an option, but I'm not fat enough. That only fixes some physical issues, but not the internal ones. Why do I overeat? I'm thinking Boredom, mostly. And those damned comfort foods. Sometimes there's nothing better than some chocolate.

Enough about me
In yesterday's AJ, Leonard Pitts wrote a very good editorial about how the GOP has used semantics words to re-state the obvious, as he put it 'the language of obfuscation and misdirection'. I guess one could relate that to Political Correctness, saying what is real, but putting a safety net around it. Deaf people are now 'hearing-impaired', retarded people are 'mentally impaired'. Except Liberals are Bad. They've made liberal not a political ideology, but a birth defect. We have to see thru this crap. I've always thought that what Newt Gingrich did with the 'Contract with America' was bogus. When these people were elected to their positions, that was an implied contract with America. We didn't need another one, but the GOP wanted us dummies to think they really had our issues at heart.

Vote Libertarian. They haven't messed anything up yet.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
