I haven't had the A/C on in a few days and I actually had to have a blanket on last night. I love this weather!
Lovely Day in The Neighborhood
With all this rain we've been having these last few weeks, preceded by how many years of drought, my neighborhood is a buzz. A buzz with chain saws, that is. Seems like they are cutting down all the trees in the neighborhood. Yesterday it was the neighbors behind me, today it's across the street. The tree across the street is a very TALL pine tree. My neighbor has mentioned before she's wanted to cut down some trees, but that it was very expensive. We'll see how many will come down today. It's interesting watching them take a tree down. Definately team work, they start at the top, cut all the branches, then tie a chunk of the main tree, cut it off and lower it to the ground. Pretty cool. (Yes, I'm very bored) Wonder what they are doing with the mulch??? Huumm...
Big Day Out
Because we had to take my Hairdressers dog from him because he couldn't take care of her, I've been feeling quite guilty about my cats. Yesterday was time for Katrina's annual checkup, April needed some blood tests and Remy had to have a mole looked at. Taking all 3 at once has it's advantages, you get it done, there's no drama at home when you bring one cat back from the vets, but there are disadvantages, too. It comes to a pretty sizeable bill, it takes more than one person to move the cages and they are awkward. I'd like to get some soft sided sherpa-bags that you can carry over your shoulder. That would make moving easier and storage is easier. So I packed them all up and off we went. Remy was really Pissed at me, she was lounging on the front porch when I picked her up and put her in the hated cage. While we were waiting for the doctor, I had the cages stacked in the waiting room and looked in on all of them. The anger and resentment exuded from these cages was over-whelming. I was NOT their friend. The prognosis is positive and all are doing well. April got to cut down her thyroid medicine and Remy needs surgery soon, but I knew that. And Katrina is Katrina. She's doubled her weight since I've had her. Think she's adjusting to captivity??
Job Hunt
I just keep at it. I did get a return call from a head-hunter in Austin, Texas about a job they had listed here in Atlanta. (The client wanted someone Certified to Jump-thru-Hoops). The biggest issue is I have no certification. That would be a $2200 class telling me I can be a Project Manager. I took an overview of that class and I recalled alot of the information from my Management classes in college. Ya gotta Play the game...
I read an article about the "Missing Man", the 30-50 year old male (mostly 40's and 50's), the guys with all the experience who's pretty much priced himself out of the market. (They also mention these kids who hitched a ride in the DotCom boom who made CEO by age 25, lost their jobs in the DotCom bust and can't find another CEO position. That's another story.) In a youth-oriented economy, anyone with life and business experience is not favored. It wasn't too much of an issue while I was 'coming up' as I was in the Early Days of the computer industry. I don't go back as far as Grace Hopper, but it was a new industry.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
