Finally, my house is put away. I worked hard all weekend to get things in Order, which is quite a challenge for me. Now if only I could keep it that way!
The Social Butterfly....Not!
I haven't been motivated by anything lately, even helping friends celebrate birthdays. I don't know what the issue is, (I can guess at a few), but it's not my friends' fault. I'm getting a reputation of not showing up to things, and at this point it's well deserved. Maybe it's my age. My mom doesn't go anywhere, but she doesn't really like people. She's also 82, so she doesn't have to like people. At what point does odd behavior become 'eccentric' behavior? LOL!
S*B OnIn
I haven't cleaned the flour at the end of my driveway announcing the 'OnIn' we had here yesterday. It was fun, I got to renew some friendships, make new ones and be thoroughly entertained. I wanted to let the kitty, Miss Katrina outside, but there were too many people and they were too loud, so that didn't work. But when the people came inside to use the bathroom (we didn't have anyone peeing off the deck as we did before!) she was sitting on the table, head-butting everyone who stopped to get some attention. Anna, a 4-year-old hasher would let Miss K rub her head, then she'd just giggle and Miss K would do it again. It was so cute!
Movie Review
*** Disclaimer *** I have eclectic tastes in movies, music and books. I don't really care for 'mainstream' movies. I like independently produced movies and some foreign flicks, biographies and historical fiction, and obscure prog-rock bands from the UK. *****
This was a bummer week for movies, I must admit. I saw 'Adventures of Baron Munchausen' directed by Terry Gilliam, of Monty Python fame. It was pretty good, lots of good cameo's (Robin Williams as the King of the Moon!). The story was pretty interesting, the special effects were pretty good (for the time) although if it were anymore hi-tech, it may have lost the feel of the movie. I don't know what it was about it, it just didn't leave me with 'Warm fuzzies'.
The next movie was what I thought would be yet another period piece, but turned out to be a Really Stupid Romance. I hate romances. I didn't know what the title meant until I was almost at the end. It was called 'Tipping the Velvet' and it was about a young woman in Victorian London who was just begining to come out of the closet and find lesbian London. It was basically a soft-porn romance flick with 2 women. Lots of Girl-on-Girl kissing, a few bare breasts, some butt shots. She was a singer who cut her hair short and did a one woman show, dressed as a man but obviously a woman. I'm not a lesbian (not that there's anything wrong with that!) but some times movies concerning gay situations are much more interesting than mainstream movies. This was a typical 'romance'(Ok, not so typical) : girl meets girl, girl gets dumped by girl, girl lives the seedy side of life, girl wins over another girl and they live happily ever after. All the families and friends were so accepting of this life-style and she was such a popular performer, I can't believe that would pass for acceptable in Victorian society. I know there had to be gay bars and an underground gay community, but these people were just too open and unashamed. You couldn't even show your ankles without ruining your reputation! It was a waste of time. BTW, the title refers to a sex act.
Tonite is a 'documentary' of Pink Floyd that all the reviews online panned. I wish I'd read these before I rented the movie.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
