What a beautiful weekend! Our first sunny weekend since January. It was nice to get outside and play or work for a change. Let's hope this continues.
Hiking
Saturday I went on a 5 mile hike along the Chattahoochie near Roswell. What a beautiful trail. I was with 13 other people, most of whom I hadn't met yet. We hiked a few miles, roasted marshmellows, hiked a few more miles and afterwards went to a Mexican Restaurant. It was quite refreshing not having to deal with any soft porn or mass quantities of alcohol, which is standard on a hash. I also had an invite to a party that night, but I couldn't move. I was so tired, but it was a good tired! I will definately be doing this again!
Gardening
Even though I was still tired from hiking, I spent yesterday working in my yard. I massacered my crepe myrtle and my butterfly bushes. I raked some leaves, cleaned up some weeds, mowed down some liriope and filled 6 refuse bags with sticks. I'm really pooped. I was in bed early last night, watching the movie 'The Fantastic Four'. Pretty good, actually. I used to watch that cartoon when I was a kid.
NASCAR and Good Riddence.
NASCAR has chosen Charlotte to built their Hall of Fame. So sad. (End Sarcasm) Who do these folks think they are? The entire France family is worth $ billions, but they are trying to milk the governments for tax breaks and money to build the Hall. Why couldn't they be like Bernie Marcus and build a monument to themselves with their own money?? And I've been complaining about how bad the King family is in trying to sell the King Center to the Government. Doesn't anyone have any pride any more??
One of the reasons Charlotte got the HOF and not Atlanta was the 'High Crime' in downtown Atlanta. I've heard this complaint from lots of people (especially those from small, southern towns) about any city where they haven't visited. A friend had a boyfriend from somewhere in Tennessee and they moved to Lorton, Va, a suburb of DC. He was afraid to go anywhere in the area due to the High Crime. I lived in DC for 30 years and never got mugged. And I lived in South Florida for 8 years in the 80's and never saw any cocaine. You can't stay home and be afraid of doing things.
Atlanta came up with tons of money for this racing Hall of Fame, but they can't come up with much to build a nice concert hall for our world class symphony. We all know where Atantans and Georgians have their priorities, but a symphony is a good thing. When was the last time you went to a symphony or an opera? Maybe you should try it.
Good Morning!
I came into work this morning and was immediately accosted by users 'Why doesn't my fax machine work?', 'What can you tell me about this new fax procedure?' . On Friday our IT Administrator decided to install some new fax software and set up a new way our company handles faxes. He informs me at 2pm on Friday I have to install the software on everyone's machine. I don't know how to work the software, I can't give anyone a reason why we're doing this, but the responsibility is on me to explain it. I love my job (end sarcasm).
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
