Today is Get Over It Day . What a concept. So here are my lists:
Things I have to Get Over
Myself
My last birthday
Freddie Mercury's death
I will Never be Rich
I will Never be Gorgeous
I could be partially at fault for the tension between me and my younger sister
I'm not a good housekeeper
Some people I considered friends are not
Not everyone finds me interesting
No one Really cares what I have to say
Things Society has to Get Over
A few '-isms': Racism, Sexism, EthnoCentrism
Rap music
Guns
Religion (Why can't we all just get along?)
Non-renewable energy sources
Age Discrimmination
Republicans and Democrats
Gunfight at the Dekalb County Corral
Last night, for the third night in a row (or atleast recently) someone was gunned down in a parking lot outside a club in South Dekalb. I just don't get it. This was a black-on-black crime. What can we do about this gun crime? The NRA (and by extention, the GOP) won't allow any more laws, and really we don't enforce the laws. Why can't guns be licensed like automobiles? Actually, I think guns should be left alone. Register and regulate the bullets. An unloaded pistol is not a real threat to anyone.
Billy Campbell
Looks to me like Mr. Campbell will walk on this one. In my opinion, they haven't proven that he actually did take money. In reality, everything he did sounds like he took money, he spent money like he had a never ending supply, and his statement that he cleared $20K a year gambling sounds quite suspect, but no one could pin taking the money on him. Even the contract with United Water (with his signature that he said he didn't sign) isn't going to make a difference. He could be Atlanta's version of Marion Barry and we'll have to be dealing with his shinanigans for years.
Speed Trap: 285 South
I actually saw several policemen parked on the side of I-285 pointing radar guns at people. We all slowed down as long as they were in sight. Actually, I've seen speed 'regulation' on 285 quite regularly since I've been commuting on the east/south side.
And another thing..
Why don't traffic reporters refer to the appropriate lanes of 285 as Inner Loop and Outer Loop? At Spaghetti Junction, 285 east bound is the Inner Loop, and west bound is the Outer Loop. But that's too easy....
I guess I just have to Get Over It.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
