Paraskevidekatriaphobia: Is there a cure??

Happy Friday 13th. No, the above Big Word is not a fear of Parasites or a fear of Katrina, but a fear of Friday 13th. I have no fear of today, Thursday the 12th was always my bad day. I did open a large bottle of carbonated water that I brought from home this morning and spewed all over my desk, clothes, papers, computer and calendar. That's one reason to drink lots of water, as my sister said 'If it's wet, it's clean'. I am not so superstitous to be afraid of today, I'm not so sure I believe in Good Luck and Bad Luck, I feel it's all related to the decisions you make. If you're accident prone, perhaps you're not really living in the 'now' your mind is somewhere else. If you always loose financially, perhaps you gamble with your money, make too many risky investments. So I guess the cure of Paraskevidekatriaphobia is Tomorrow.

It's a start
I have officially lost 5.4 lbs! Yeah me! I lost twice as much weight last week as I did this past week. And why would that be?? I didn't work out this week. I only did 30 minutes on the treadmill 3 days last week and lost 2.5 lbs. Didn't work out this week and lost 1.5. Guess you'll find me on my treadmill...

Lake Hartwell
I'm off to spend a relaxing weekend (well one night, anyway) at Lake Hartwell at my friend's cabin. It's always a good time when I go up there, no TV, no telephones, no reality. We drink, eat and play. Sometimes I camp, but not this weekend, too cold. Although I will take my tent, just in case we need the room. (My tent, sleeping bag, extra blankets, long underwear..) Last time I was there, we had 11 dogs running around. I'm glad I did camp as 6 dogs slept upstairs with their owners and everyone else. Now, I sleep with my kitties, but there's a huge difference in 4 8-10lb creatures who don't move and an 80 lb critter who can't seem to sit still. I love dogs, but I'm not real keen on sharing a small space with 6 of them. So no dogs this weekend. This will also be a good excuse to stop at the Tangier Outlet Mall in Commerce. I especially love the pottery place across the street. Lots of stuff. I'm in the market now for end tables and an ottoman for the living room.

Hawking wares
I am always fascinated at the Crap they try to sell you on TV. Knives that cut thru everything, slicer and dicers, and cleaners that will clean and disinfect for decades. I saw a 'safety device' they were hawking for $20. I've forgotten what it was called, but it's basically a large, thick rubber band. It hooks around your deadbolt and around your doorknob, to guarantee no one can break in. I think if you locked your deadbolt you wouldn't have that problem. And if you take the time to hook this around your door knobs, why don't you take a few more minutes to make sure you've locked your deadbolt?? And if your deadbolt doesn't work, get a new one...
I also like the nifty Cold Heat soldering tool for $19.99. You can solder anything and the tip of the soldering tool gets cold to the touch in seconds. They have a testimonial from a woman who says she uses hers to fix all things around her house and she's thrilled it gets cold to the touch and it's safe. Now, I've owned a home for over 10 years and I've never soldered anything. I can't even imagine what I would solder if I had to. But I can get this nifty, safe soldering tool. Talk about creating a need...

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
