Kitten Update
No sooner had I published my last entry than the Little Guy started eating Big Kitty Food. And he won't stop! I watched that little guy chow down on almost 1/2 can of cat food. Today is a lovely day, and it's Kitty Krazy Day. My girls are too old and fat to really get excited, but Mama kitty is possessed. I'm stuck in this little room with a crazy cat, jumping, rushing around, climbing on everything, yowling. Then there's junior, who has become a bouncing ball of fuzz. He's getting more sure on his feet, which means he's going to start jumping and climbing. He's doing a pretty good job, for his size. When he gets a bit bigger, he will destroy lots of things in this room. It's almost time to hide the computer cords. At this very moment, he's next to me feet, curled up, asleep. Mama is FINALLY calm and sitting in the window. I was on the phone with Baby Sis and Mama let loose a yowl and Baby Sis said she sounds like a goat. There you have it.
Whoever let mama live outside was a fool. She's a little love, wants to be held and will sit on my shoulder. Just amazing. The shelter said they may have someone who wants to adopt both of them, so I'm off the hook. I hope they like a VERY vocal, nagging, velcro-kitty.
Other Thoughts
Ted Kennedy has brain cancer. Amazing something so traumatic has to get him, with all the sorry and pain in the family already, he can't just go peacefully. My thoughts are with he and his family. You may not like his politics, but you have to feel for the family.
Another sad issue is the passing of Hamilton Jordon, former Chief of Staff for Jimmy Carter. I remember when Carter was in DC, Hammy went out one night and got into some trouble at a bar and dumped a drink on some woman. A writer for theWashington Post at the time said the bar missed a great opportunity, they should have named that drink for Hammy. (I think it was a white Russian.) That would have made big money for that bar.
Thank God, American Idol is OVER! I hate the hype, I hate the silliness and I hate the harsh critique that's handed out. It's a sad state of affairs that the most popular TV shows are those 'reality' shows who's most entertaining draw is putting other people down. I don't like shows like that, I don't find making fun of other people or putting people down especially entertaining. But back to American Idol, you can't help but know who's competing, it's a 'news item' every night. I turned on the last 2 minutes (after Criminal Minds ended and before the 10 o'clock news) just as they announced the winner. I didn't like the kid who lost, something about his looks was a bit creepy. Maybe I knew someone who looks like him in my past, but something about him was a turnoff. The guy that won needs a new hairdo. This faux-mohawk is stupid, but evidently the rage for the 20-something crowd. And there were millions of calls to vote on these guys. Don't you people have anything else to do??? What a waste of money and time.
I've single handedly solved the energy crisis: I don't drive my car much. Next time I buy gas, it will probably be $5/gal. I'm trying to walk everywhere, but that's impossible sometimes. (Actually, I never leave the house, so it's easy not to drive. I need a life!) It's tough to do any grocery shopping for any amount of time and walk the groceries home. In my next life, whenever and where ever that may be, I want to live in a close community where you can walk to restaurants, grocery stores and drug stores.
Yes, I've put my resume out for DC jobs. Mom went into the hospital last Friday, and I'm sure Daddy just wandered around, trying to figure out what to do. He's never been good at making decisions or being independent. Mom got out the next day, but I'm sure part of her hospitalization was caused by the stress of taking care of Daddy. When will they realize they don't NEED to take care of that house??! I remember the horrible time that was Christmas, and I don't want to go back to that, but they need help and won't admit to it. As one woman told me, she knows there are some things she's not going to be able to do when she gets older, and she's ready to admit to it and move on.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
