Thanks!

Thanks for all the input on the clog-thing. Looks like that won't be happening again. (I did wear clogs to the interview I had for my last job, whatever that's worth!) So, Baby Niece, you can relax, the Family Reputation is entact.

Just for those who may not know me too well, I grew up in the Washington, DC area, so the Power Suit was my choice. The colors up there are black, white and grey, and red/white/blue. Not much color or imagination, so a Power Suit is what you wear. When I first started in IT, I had a closet full of business suits, mostly dark and lots of light color shirts and dark stiletto heels (hey, I was young!).

Then I moved to South Florida. Talk about culture shock, it's rare to find someone who owns a suit down there. Besides, it's too hot to wear dark suits and jackets, inspite of CSI-Miami. I wore light weight jackets most of the time anyway, but colors! Miami is colored bright reds, blues, yellows, pinks, teal.

Then I move to Atlanta, gained weight and worked in warehouses and printing plants. Business casual took on a whole different meaning in those situations, especially if you don't meet with people during the day. What is the color of Atlanta anyway? Since I'm not in the YUP-pie demographic anymore, what is acceptable? I own black, brown and navy blue slacks for interviews, with black or navy jacket (no brown). Are colored shirts acceptable? I have a lovely sweater that is teal, navy, brown, black, white, and goes with everything, but it's bright. Not shocking, but bright. I don't look good in pure white or black, I'm more of an earth-tone kinda gal. I do try to dress appropriately, I won't wear jeans to a professional interview. But ya gotta stand out somehow, so I'll wear colored blouses. I don't do the severe business look anymore.

So why am I rambling about this? No idea. I'm bored, it's rainy and I've got to do my taxes.

Job Fair
The job fair yesterday was a total WOT (Waste of Time!). They really weren't interviewing for professional positions, so I went, I saw, I talked to a few companies, I went home. BFD. But I did it. So now what? I wait. I've got to find other things to do, to keep my mind occupied. You know what the big decision was yesterday? Do I cheat and get fast-food for lunch or do I go home and eat the frozen delicacies I have? Ugh!

Excellent Article!
This article, written by Roger Williams a state rep from Dalton is fantastic! I debunks Sonny Perdue's theory on why we shouldn't have alcohol sales on Sunday. It also makes clear that all this bill wants to do is to allow each municipality to vote on the issue. To quote: 'We already have Sunday sales of alcohol in Ga, only grocery, convenience and package stores are forbidden'. Touche!

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

Other things to do? PAWS is looking for people to walk dogs. I know cats are more your thing and you can't really walk a cat, but the dogs would really appreciated getting out of their cages. And it is good therapy. Help a dog - Help yourself.
