This weather is crazy! It's been cold and wet the last few days, and it's rather cool today. I know, cold is a relative term, but it's supposed to be spring and it's in the 50's. I'm not really complaining, I find that temperature to be invigorating. The problem is the pollen. The count was around 2500 yesterday, my black car is yellow, the driveway is yellow, the front porch is yellow, and if I let the kitties out on the porch, they become yellow. Hopefully we are on the downside of this mess.
Job Hunt
Same Old, Same Old. I did the roster of recruiters today, no BA openings. Things are quiet. I know a lot of government contracts end in June, so no one is really staffing up now. So I have to find something to keep me occupied and out of trouble. I attended a networking meeting a few days ago and the gentleman speaking said that everyone should have more than one income. He starts several business a year, and if they don't earn $1000 he folds them. Hhuummm. Of course, at this point, any money coming in is good.
So what to do? I've got my jewelry, but that's labor-intensive. What else can I do? I'm thinking... Any ideas?
Bob Barr
Looks like Bob Barr might be running for President. Hhuummm.. I've said many times I never cared for the Right-winger Bob, he represented Cobb County and environs in the House of Representatives during the Clinton era and he was most vocal in getting the impeachment process started. He also lead the fight to rename National Airport to Ronald Regan National Airport in DC. (Only the press refer to the airport by that name, most DC residents still call it 'National'). But he's seen the light and now is a Libertarian. He writes for the AJC sometimes and I've agreed with most of his articles. Imagine my suprise!
I'm still learning about the Libertarian party, but so far, I'm liking what I see. Less government interference in personal lives, less national government altogether. You know, States Rights. The questions I have are concerning regulation of certain practices (or industries) and government oversite of common-good laws. For example, after this fiasco with the housing industry, the government should NOT bail out mortgage lenders, developers or even consumers, let the market heal itself. BUT there should be laws or regulations put in place so that this doesn't happen again. This should be a national interest, not left to the states.
I have the same question pertaining to public health issues. These should be national interests, not left to each state to decide.
He probably doesn't have a snowballs chance in Hell to win, but at least there's an alternative.
Dating
I've stated before, I can't look for a date and a job at the same time. Too much rejection involved. I know, I'm not getting any younger and the longer I wait, the more the odds stack against me. Don't you think I know that??
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
