That yellow stuff is my doom! I went to the library yesterday and became very paranoid about the noises I was making! Sniffing, nose blowing, gasping for air, just horrible. And to add to it, I started getting hungry which lead to stomach growling. Doesn't this make a lovely sight? A red-nosed, runny-eyed babe in a t-shirt and jeans with tummy rumbles and kleenex coming out of every pocket? Yes, I had taken a claritin, too!
Job Hunt and Dieting
Those two don't seem to go hand-in-hand in my life. I've got to a grip, I can't keep munching on stuff. I'm not moving as much as I was when I was working, and I can't afford to buy too much. Darn it, Kroger has 1/2 gallon ice cream for $2.99! You can make a meal off of that!
I've been managing to get to the gym at least 3 days a week, maybe not 3 days in a row or on a consistent basis, but I have been going. I'm finding I have better stamina. I want to get out and walk, but with the pollen as bad as it is, I'm just not too sure it's a good idea. Having said that, the gym is about 3 miles from my house, so I could ride my bike or walk. Except that that I have to cross 285 at some point and the closest bridge is under construction, so there really is no safe way to navigate that cluster. I could go about 2 miles out of my way to get on the bike trail, but that's another 4 miles, and I'm not that ambitious yet.
The job hunt is as frustrating, nothing yet. I have been presented to at least 3 companies, but haven't heard anything yet. I have to do the phone calls today, and wait more. Same old same old.
Movie Review
I've been watching a few movies lately, I promise I will cancel my Direct TV and stick with NetFlix! I saw Sweeney Todd last week. Very interesting. I love Johnny Depp and I've enjoyed all of the Tim Burton flicks I've seen, and this was pretty good. I just don't have warm fuzzies over it. I guess you're not supposed to! It is a pretty gruesome subject matter. Either I have an old TV (Duh!) or the sound on the DVD wasn't all that good, but it overpowered the vocals and it was difficult to follow. The British cockney accents also made it difficult to understand. But it was good to look at. I will say that sepia tones aren't very flattering for the over 30 crowd.
For some reason, I got some romance movies. I hate romance movies. The first one was Love Actually , with a large ensemble cast including Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman (why, BTW, is in Sweeney Todd!). I had seen the end before, but didn't know it till I got there. Like all romance movies, everyone falls in love in the end and everyone's problems get resolved. Boring. Romance, bah, humbug!
The other one was Love Comes Softly and older flick with Katherine Heigl. Based on a book by Christian writer Janette Oke and directed by Michael Landon, Jr, it's a family friendly flick on the 'adventures' of a young woman and her new husband migrating out west in the 1800's. As soon as they find a place to build their home, new hubby goes out and gets killed. It does make you think about the more opportunities we have as women now, because she couldn't make it on her own, (build the house, run the farm, do the chores) and she couldn't go back home. (It was late summer and to start a long trip back east in the fall would have been suicide.) So the only option was to marry an older widower with a daughter, with the promise of going back home in the spring. It was cute, very sanitized, no blood, no drama, no dirty words or actions. But another 'live happily ever after' ending. Bah humbug!
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
