I'm Back, and I've got Something To Say...

So much has happened, I need to vent.

Al Stewart
Wonderful, as always. He's a very funny guy, very talented, well-read and seems to enjoy performing. He refers to himself as a folk singer and he came up in the time when all the Big Names in Rock were young. He told of when he and Jimmy Page used to drink wine and play guitars. He said one time Jimmy Page mentioned that he wanted to start a band and was looking for a bass player. He said that was one of those moments that changed your life. He said 'Good Luck'. Of course the band was Led Zeppelin. He also grew up with and took guitar lessons from Robert Fripp of King Crimson with his 3-dimensional guitar chords. Someone asked Robert Fripp if any of his students ever made it big and his line was 'Al Stewart was the only one, and he didn't listen to anything I told him.

I also ran into some Hashers, Drew and Michelle and Sara and her boyfriend. It was a fun evening. Drew and Michelle are getting married in October, and Michelle was leaving the following Monday for Singapore for 2 weeks, which puts her back in Atlanta days before her wedding. Needless to say, she was a bit stressed.

Some Stuff
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke at Columbia University last week to mixed reactions. I was watching CNN and found it pretty interesting. The President of Columbia pretty much lambasted ole Mahmoud and called him a petty tyrant. Mahmoud's reaction was one of amusement, and kinda put him down by saying that invited dignitaries in Iran were treated with respect. As CNN kept saying, how will this play back in Iran, and I'm not sure we Yankees came off all that well. But I'll bet Iran won't invite President Bush to speak at any of their universities. So let's all take the high road and just say 'It is what it is' and move on.

Even the Republicans have to admit that Georgia and the Southeast is in a major drought. Some things even the ruling party can't deny.

I read today that Rush Limbaugh has called any soldier that wants to pull out of Iraq 'phony'. Some Dems want him off Armed Forces Radio, but the GOP is screaming 'Freedom of Speech' issues and he should stay on. Doesn't Freedom of Speech mean that you can have an opposing point of view? Read the highlighted article to see more instances of GOP/conservative hypocrasy. (Imagine!) What's different from Rush calling the soldiers 'phony' and MoveOn.org calling Gen Petreaus 'Gen Betrayus'. I personally didn't think that was such a good thing because he is a soldier, but Rush calling the soldiers phony is just as bad. (And notice the quote was taken from a Moderate website, not Liberal)

Britney loses her babies. Didn't we see this coming? Those poor kids didn't ask to be born. Who will take care of them? Federline isn't Mr. Mom, he is just using those kids as pawns to Brit's money. So sad. A true Trainwreck.

Giving people caught in the mortgage crisis a tax break is ridiculous. We all have decisions to make and I decided NOT to buy a house I couldn't afford. So sorry you did, but you don't deserve any government help. On my tab. (I can say that now!) I have some friends who were in that situation, as I was close to being, but our issues weren't really our own fault, we all lost jobs and went thru savings and investments. No one was there to help us. Not even the government. These nimrods just wanted a house they couldn't afford. Tough.

OK, have I stirred things up enough? Good. See ya, comrades.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
