Wow, Friday already??

I love my new job! The people are cool, it's a very team-oriented environment and it looks like I'll be learning a lot. I'm still in the learning phase, but I can't wait to get started.

New Role: Commuter
I've started taking MARTA. I'm even going to start taking the bus, instead of driving to the MARTA station. (We'll see, if it take too much longer, I'll drive.) Since I'm working within a block of a Marta station AND I don't have a free parking spot, I'll take the train. At my last job, I was 2 blocks from a MARTA station, but I had free, secured parking, so I drove. I'll be saving lots of money, too! The MARTA token will be $52.50/month, while driving will be costing me at least $7.00/day for parking, not to mention $2.65/gal for gas. Plus I'll be walking more.

Location, location, location
My new job is located 1 block from the 5 Points MARTA stop, near Coke (for now), Fairle-Poplar district, Georgia State, the Rialto Theater, Underground Atlanta, and I'm just discovering all the rest of the cool stuff. Woodruff Park, just across the street from here, has tables set up for a Reading Room, with some materials available from the Public Library. How cool is that? Yes, there are the obligatory homeless folks, crazy people and funny smells, but that's City Life. I can walk about 2 blocks in any direction and find all types of foods, shops, events, and people. I have missed the Big City.

Some Thoughts
I guess a Republican that solicits gay sex in a bathroom isn't really gay. But a Democrat that has sex with a woman is a Bad Person. Who Knew?

The Troop Surge in Iraq isn't working and now our commander-in-chief is saying the benchmarks were never realistic anyway, even though they were the Reason To Fight. Will this Administration ever get it right?

There was a letter to the Editor in the AJC Wednesday that was just absurd, probably one of the worst things I've read in awhile. Written by a professor at Duke University, this rambling thing mentions animal rights, horse and dog racing, and how white people are blaming Vick because they don't participate in dogfighting. What? Read the letter and see if you don't agree.

Have a Good Labor Day Weekend!

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

Nancy, have you ever registered for the clean air campaign? You might be able to get some cash ($180) over a 90 day period...might be worth looking into
