This is my last weekday to run some errands. So I'm off to stock up on items and visit some places I haven't for awhile. While I am looking forward to starting a job and getting money, I am sad to see my 'independence' come to an end. Right now, I do what I want, when I want, but that will soon change.
Craig Ferguson
I know I've mentioned him a few times, he's the host of the Late Late Show, on after David Letterman. He's very funny, and I love his Scottish accent. Last night his monologue was all about Atlanta! I mentioned yesterday that the City Council of Atlanta was considering an amendment to ban baggy pants . This became world news, and Craig Ferguson based his monologue on this. It was very funny, (and I agree) that maybe they have the wrong crack problem. It has been suggested that this 'style' is based on jail prisoners loosing their belts when incarcerated. According to Craig, if the kids of Atlanta want to look like a prisoner, they should just wear Michael Vick jerseys. ! LOL! That's good. He's also coming to the CobbEnergy Theater in December. Hhuummm...
Speaking of Live performances, Al Stewart, another favorite Scotsman, will be at Eddie's Attic on September 26. I saw him there last year and it was a fabulous show. He's quite the performer, he's got a great rapport with the audience and he's full of interesting tales. Very entertaining evening. I've seen him perform a few times, and I've never been disappointed.
Plain Sight
I'm trying to find something else to B*tch about, and there it is, so obvious I missed it. God, it's been HOT! We've set record hi temperatures more than once this month, and it's been 100 degrees (or MORE!) for about 10 days this month, with a brand new record of 104 degrees on Tuesday. It just sucks the life out of you. I'm so glad I don't have to go outside. And before anyone from the SouthWest posts what a wimp I am, this is not dry heat. You haven't lived until you've experienced 100 degree heat and 87% humidity. Yes, the snow is different here, too.
Travel
Speaking of Scotland, these are the final days for the Edinburgh Festival , which I plan to go to someday. I loved Edinburgh when I visited a few years ago, and I'd love to go to other places in Scotland, like Glasgow or the Orkny Islands, way up north. (I'll bet it's not hot up there!) I read the Scottish Times every so often, it's interesting to see their take on our problems. In their 'Features' section, they have what they call 'S2' which is articles, commentaries, reviews of just about everything. These pieces are very well written, and very insightful. Take a look sometime.
Speaking of Travel
I Finally found my passport in all my downsizing recently, however it expired. OK, it expired in 2000, but what's a few years?? I need to get that renewed if I plan on doing any travel. I want to start back with the camping and hiking, and the Atlanta Ski Club has some great trips scheduled, not just for skiing. So if I want to leave the continental US, I need a passport. And you remember all the horror stories of passports taking up to 6 months. And, with a Big Birthday coming up this February and everyone working now, I may want to take a trip with someone. (Is that Hint enough, family and friends??!)
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

Hey, are you still possibly interested in doing wine country in CA for your birthday?
Craig Ferguson is funny, but I can't stay up late enough to watch him. I love the line about the kids, prisoners, and Michael Vick shirts. That's a classic.
I don't know who in the world thought up the idea of trying to regulate what people wear. Schools can do that, but not for the rest of us. That thug look will be over, just as the hippie look diminished after awhile.
This was discussed on FOX last night and again on GMA this morning. Everyone is asking, is there any validity in trying to mandate what can and cannot be worn in public? As long as you're covering your private parts, I don't think it's any of their business. The city of Atlanta has a hell of a lot more problems to tend to than what people wear.
