Just one more week of mindless relaxation..? I'm trying to get my house CLEAN, go thru all the boxes I've dumped junk in, put away all the painting stuff and all the tools laying around from my painting episode. I've decided I don't think I like the color of the middle room, so I'm going today to see what 'mistakes' there are at the Benjamine Moore store. Good paint, cheap. I'm thinking some shade of blue. The room doesn't get much sun at all, and overlooks the front porch, so I need a bright color. For $8/gal and about 1 hour of effort, I can try a few colors. Ahh, the beauty of paint.
Clothes
Since I haven't really worked in over a year, and all the jobs I've had in the last 10 years were at warehouses, my wardrobe is somewhat lacking. I went Friday to get some new clothes. I bought some pretty nice things, all on sale. I got one shirt at JC Penney for $3.99, one at Macy's for $8.50. I couldn't find any slacks. I have some that I wear everywhere, one black, one navy and one brown, and that seems to work. I'd like a light beige or tan or off white, but I can't seem to find anything I like. I still don't know the dress code, so I don't want to buy jeans and not be able to wear them. Same with shoes, I don't want to buy a pair of shoes I won't wear.
I also discovered that Brown is the New Black. Most of the clothes I bought are some shade of brown. I've seen brown paired with teal, lime green, pink, blue, almost any color. The styles this fall seem to be boxy and flouncy, which is great, it covers up more, but A Woman of A Certain Size would look like her clothes were made by Omar the Tent Maker. I'll figure something out.
Another discovery I made is all about foundation garments. If you are a little shy about discussing 'unmentionables', skip this paragraph. I'm looking for a nice camisole, but I don't think anyone wears one any more. The few I've found are like wife-beater t-shirts, wide straps, cotton and plain. I want a nice nylon-type lacy camisole. The major department stores don't seem to carry any slips or camisoles over a Large, so I went to Lane Bryant, a famous Plus size store. God, all their underware looked so utilitarian, very plain, I guess just functional. Still no slips, or camisoles. What to do? I even looked at the Hanes catalog and nothing. I guess I'll take a trip to Commerce, GA to the outlet malls to check it out.
Ice Road Truckers
I made a comment about this being my new job after watching the show on the History Channel. Somehow, you just get sucked into it. My friend, Margaret gave me grief about it, because she watched it and became addicted. So yesterday was an Ice Road Truckers Marathon, all episodes on all day. I'm proud to say I didn't watch any of them until about 4 or 5pm, and then only the one's I haven't seen. It's interesting in that these people would do something so stupid, and the fact that it's in the Upper 90's outside and on the show it's below Zero.
And Margaret, I want to thank you for addicting me to 'Dirty Jobs' on the Discovery Channel. I'm trying to figure out a way to get Mike Rowe to come help me clean the litter boxes.
Contractor
On Friday, I ran into a guy I met working at Publix. He stands out in my mind because he wears a long, grey, ponytail and a Grateful Dead t-shirt. My kinda guy, only he needs a guitar and a Harley. I digress. Seems he's a carpenter, specializing in kitchen cabinets. I told him I want to remodel my bathroom, so guess what? He's got a friend he's worked with for awhile. I'm still doing some homework, but to get a contractor recommended by another contractor could be a good thing. It's a start.
I must away, I've got to fax some papers back to my new 'employer'! (That sounds good!) and then I must check on my friend at the deli at Publix, she's from Montego Bay and I'm concerned about her family over there. Then I'm off to get a pedicure and manicure, and I must make an appointment to get my hair done. Hey, it's all about me anyway.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

if you don't get the mani/pedi for some reason today, let me know, I'm in desperate need of a pedi. I'll come meet you, it is much more fun with someone to talk to (as most nail technicians don't speak english well)
