One More Year.

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 'annual' physical, which I haven't had for 2 years. I passed with flying colors. My blood-pressure has dropped, in part due to the exercise I've been getting in the last few months, but I believe mostly because I quit my high-stress job in '04. So I don't have to go back for another year. I did get a referral to a doctor I've been seeing for almost 2 years, now that I'm on an HMO. Isn't that the stupidest thing you've ever heard? Because I changed insurance coverage I have to get referrals to regular doctors. What a crock! I'm still with the same provider and have been for over 7 years, but I now have a different plan. I hate HMO's. I will change the first chance I get. In all the 'excitement' of signing up I thought I'd joined the PPO, not the HMO. I guess I need to read between the lines.

CherryBlossoms and Snow
The bloom date for the Cherry Blossoms in DC is March 30. They are expecting snow today in DC. You think Atlanta is confused?! Have you ever been to DC for the Cherry Blossoms? DC is one of the most beautiful towns in the spring and the fall. The blossoms blooming all around the reflecting pool is beatiful!

After college, on of my good friends was a Park Ranger stationed at the Washington Monument (WaMo) and then the Jefferson Memorial. We used to go to TJ's at late at night and just look at the city. It is so beautiful with all the lights of the city. It's a peaceful place at night, not too many tourists and the city is quiet. The Park Service leave at midnight, but the Park Police come on duty until morning.

One time we rented roller skates (before the latest roller blading craze) and skated all around the mall and parts of Georgetown at night. That was so much fun! The asphalt they use around the Mall is very smooth and you could pick up some speed. Since this was after 8, the museums were closed and there wasn't much traffic. We had a blast!

Logistics
I have to figure out how to get my car in the shop for the 60K scheduled maintenance. I used to drop the car off, take MARTA to work and back and get my car. Now that I work way far away with no MARTA service, looks like I'll be taking it in on Saturday. I'm reluctant to ask someone to cart me around on Saturday, cuz that would mean them getting up EARLY on Saturday. I could rent a car for the weekend but then I still have issues with getting to and from the dealership and car rental place with 2 cars and 1 driver. This is one time that a Significant Other would really help. I'll figure something out.
