Anticiption!

Back to the Same Old Grind... Sort of

Job Hunt
Guess I need to say some more about this. I've been looking for a Business Analyst job in Atlanta for over a year now. I had some interviews last Spring (May-ish) but nothing since. I 'updated' my resume on some of the job boards in the fall, got a few more headhunters call, but still no interviews. The networking hasn't helped much, I'm not doing it 24/7 as you're supposed to and I'm not going to EVERY toastmasters, networking, association meeting on the schedules. Guess it's my problem, but I still need direction, I guess. So when I was in DC, I was only able to get to the library a few days a week, usually for 30 minutes on the computer at a time (library policy). I applied to a few Federal Government jobs, but they will take a long time for any action. I changed the address on my resume to my parents address and I got a local number and in less that 23 hours after posting the DC address, 2 head hunters called me. I applied to one job listed on HotJobs.com (something the networking folks tell you not to waste too much time on), and I got an interview! I'm now waiting to hear from them about an offer. The job is located in Herndon, Va, very close to my parents. It seems like a good opportunity, I need to get the title of BA on my resume, the guys I interviewed with seem interesting and the product is something that is definately needed. I should know in a few days what the situation is, but all looks very positive. Keep your fingers crossed.

Relocation
This means that I may have to relocate. I already have 2 people interested in renting my house, it's just a matter of cleaning it all up. And moving. I've made 3 major moves in my life, from DC to West Palm Beach, from a Boca Raton conco to an apartment in Atlanta and from the apartment to a house, across town in Atlanta. Looks like I have another coming, from a 3BR house in Atlanta to a 1BR in DC somewhere. Maybe. If I get this job, I'll only have a few weeks to get everything done here. If I don't get this job, I'll have to keep looking and hopefully find another something to keep me afloat financially. This is a time of Anticipation.

Back to the Future
In looking for places to rent, I was checking out condos and it looks like a nice 3/2 condo in Oakton on Bushman Dr is for rent. My friend, Robin from college lived on Bushman Drive. Don't know if it's the same condo, but I know the layout! I don't know if she sold that condo when her Dad passed or if it's still in the family. Wouldn't that be a trip? I also looked at a few apartments I couldn't afford but wanted to live in Back In The Day. Yes, they are still standing and are still expensive.

Reality Check
The cost of living in DC is SO MUCH more than here in Atl! Gas is running around $3.10/gallon, rents are $1000 +, food and housing are so much more expensive. The house I'm living in in Atlanta, inside the Perimeter could run as much as $300,000 in DC. I will be making much more money, but I'll be spending much more money. But I'll have a job and I'll be close to family.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

Let me tell you...moving sucks. I don't care who you are or how much money you have it is all a pain. The CG moved me when I was with them. That was nice. If you can manage to find a mover that you can afford, I say do it. It will save you a little back ache and frustration. i wrecked my truck, so I don't know how much help we will be, but we are here for you. I hope you get the job. I have an interview for a real job Thursday, and I am excited myself. It would be making real money and have real responsibilities. Meanwhile, I got a job working at a vet to make ends meet.
Got my fingers crossed for you.
Kisses,
baby neice

If you have to, look into the PODS option. You can load all your stuff up, they move it to storage for you, and then deliver it to the new address whenever you say. It is a little more than a storage unit, but the ease of it being delivered to you, (no renting a truck, etc.) is well worth it.
