Technology, bah humbug! I still can't get a lot of it, and I don't want to.

Answering Machine
Just recently, my answering machine for the telephone died an untimely death (the kitties knocked over a vase filled with some water and it died) so I bought a new one. I'm still in the process of getting used to the phones when I decided to switch local services to AT&T. No one seemed to have called my house in weeks! No answers on the machine, but lots of numbers on the phone. What to do ? I called myself. AT&T answering service is now picking up my calls, so I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to get to the AT&T website to find the customer service number or something to tell me how to use the features on my phone. Between my DSL line dropping and IE7.0 freezing up, I FINALLY got the page, and found out how to access my messages. So if you've called my house since April 24 and left a message, my apologies, I didn't know.

Changing my TV from cable to antenna operation was another issue, but that's for another time.

Returning to DC?
Just got a call from my niece, they are taking my Dad to the hospital again today. He's not doing too well, he's tired and cold a lot. Seems his pacemaker needs adjustments so he's scheduled to go back in a week, but in the meantime, he's not his usual self. He's still ungrateful, insulting and not easy to get along with, but not with his usual gusto. So I just got off the phone with Gretchen and they are all heading up from Richmond today. Gretchen is heading up there tomorrow, so I may have to go home myself. Again. It's for a good cause though, so I can't complain.
