Happy New Year!

I don't really do the Resolution-thing, it's too easy to break. I also know not to put that much pressure on myself, it leads to failure and bad feelings. Just set short-term goals for yourself, then see what happens.

Non Resolutions
I have to try to 'Get Myself Out There' more. For professional reasons and personal reasons. I want a real job, that's the first and most important. But secondly, I set a long-term goal a few years ago that is suddenly a short-term goal and still unaccomplished. I want a date before I turn 50. Not a f*ck-buddy, not a sympathy date, but someone really asking me out to get to know me, to talk, enjoy dinner or hiking or whatever. Not too much to ask, but the older you get the harder it is to accomplish this goal. And with my current social scene, it is too much to ask.

I'm re-doing my resume today and coordinating networking meetings so I can get out there and be known. I have to start making more money.

I walked-ran a 3-mile course yesterday, so I'd like to keep that up. I have to shed some weight, not just for social implications, but also health issues. (High blood pressure, High cholestral, heart disease, etc)

Soap Box Time!
In yesterday's opinion section, there were 2 articles about a situation in a Minneapolis airport. One article said there were some Muslims praying loudly at the airport and then on a plane. They were arrested. The other article said they were peacefully praying and still arrested. I would like to find another source for this information so I can form my own opinion, but the article that stated the Muslims were being confrontational made some very interesting points. Al-Queda is not a group of stupid thugs, they are very smart. Who would have thought to fly a commercial airliner into a tall building?!!? That is a stroke of genius, completely outside the imagination of a caring human-being, but a stroke of genius. They took tools that we had and turned them against us. Don't you think they could be doing the same with our freedoms? They are taking our laws and our fondness for respecting all ideas and religions and turning it against us. They pray loudly, speaking evil things about our government and religion in their language, then when they are detained, they yell discrimmination, racial profiling and religious persecution. This is then picked up on all news wires and broadcast to all other countries, and everyone hates America. How many thousands of Muslims that have been flying for years have prayed on a plane, in an airport, peacefully without incident? How many Baptists, Catholics, Jews pray on an airplane or airport peacefully, daily? How many Baptists, Catholics or Jews would be removed from a plane of airport if they were to start yelling and creating a scene? We have to stop being afraid of Muslims and target the 'terrorists'. If, in fact, these imams were praying quietly, then they should have been left alone and allowed to pray. But if they were disturbing the peace, blocking the aisles on the plane, kick them off the plane, out of the airport and let it go.
But how to determine which is right?

CheddarHead
The 18th Annual CheddarHead hash was held yesterday. Great fun was had by all, the rain went away and it was quite enjoyable. We had some shiggy, lots of mud, briars and yes, even poison ivy. Wisconsin beer, brats, black eyed peas, fried cheese curds and poutine, with, of course, beer. Someone was making Old Fashioned's for a price, and I had a taste. I could get used to that! He used Korbel Brandy instead of bourbon, but it was good. After the food and circle, we all went bowling. That's always a laugh. I didn't bowl, I had some beers and left about 8-ish. I'm not really a beer drinker, so when I drink it, I like a good beer. I'm finding that Budwiser isn't a good beer, nor is any lite beer. I'd rather drink water. CheddarHead is always a good way to start the New Year.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
