I had Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off, so I guess today is Friday, seems more like Tuesday...

Job Hunt
One of my focus companies has been Home Depot. Now that Nardelli has quit, I think I'll stay away for a while. Change is always a tough think in companies, especially for middle-management and consultants.

New Direction
I spoke with the Store Manager yesterday at length about future possibilities and he completely sees that being a cashier is a waste of my talents. So, starting Monday, I'll be training for the Demo Girl! I'll be the one you see as you come in the front door, cooking and sharing a new dish. The recipes will be featured in the weekly advertisement, so I won't have to do any research, and it's only cooking in an electric skillet at best, but I will be able to utilize my wine and cheese knowledge to push the featured wines and talk wine and cheese to customers. It's not more money, but it would open some new avenues.

Democrats Take Control
Not really, they just have the majority in both the House and Senate. I don't care which side of the fence you sit on, SOMETHING has to be done about immigration, social security, health care, etc. The last congress did nothing for us, their employers, but plenty for them. I guess this ensures Rush Limbaugh another year of spouting hate.

With the death of Jerry Ford and all the reminiscing about his era, the line between Dems and the GOP seems to have gotten sharper and more defined in the last few decades. I remember the Ford administration and I recall lots of BS between both parties, but they seem to have been able to work together. Today, I'm not so sure. It's all about name-calling, exposing faults and backroom deals. I will put the blame squarely on Newt Gingrich's back, with his 'talking points' and his 'Contract With America'. He was the one that emphasized the difference in opinions within the 2 parties and gave them names. When something has a name, it's easier to defend it or blast it. So he's spent his whole career calling people names. Same as Rush. I enjoy a political arguement or debate, but when the name-calling starts, I have to disconnect. Rush's cute little 'Femi-Nazi's' is imaginative, and definately puts a negative connotation to almost all working women. The hatred is definately knotched up.
