What a wonderful day to stay in, but I must go out and vote. Unfortunately, I won't be voting for any candidate, just against some.
Recovery
I took my headdress off at 4am this morning, I just couldn't get comfortable. The stitches and gauze were on the side of my head that I normally sleep on, so I couldn't get too comfortable last night. I woke up at 4 and took a pill and slept until around 9. It was rainy, cold and dark, and I was warm with a kitty in my arms, so who needed to get up?!? My head still hurts, I feel like the top of my head was kicked a bit. I have a scarf wrapped around my head in case it isn't done bleeding, which head injuries are prone to do. I'm also not bending over much or lifing anything heavy. Just like any other day.
Saddam is Guilty!
Like there was any question. I hope they don't allow him to appeal, he's made a mockery of this trial. Iraq is bracing itself for some riots. Why? If he was such a terrible ruler, why do they still want him around? The one thing he did do was to keep the factions from killing themselves. He did it for them.
Burqua's and Veils
There's been some press lately about wearing burqua's and veils in American society. Some people think it's the Muslim woman's right to dress as she pleases, some feel she should accept western culture and not wear them. I was watching the movie 'Malcom' on TV the other day about Malcom X and he was a Muslim. All the women in is Nation of Islam wore scarves covering their hair, but not covering their face. This makes sense. I don't believe wearing a burqua is a religious concept, but a cultural one. The Muslims don't seem to care much for women, so they cover them up. In Western culture, you shouldn't wear a full burqua, it isn't practical.
There was a letter in the AJC a few days ago about an American woman who converted to Islam and was attending the mosque here in Atlanta. She said there were Christian men and women in the mosque, praying over the muslims there to worship. This is wrong. These people have a right to worship however they want and should be allowed to do it, free of harassment. The hard-core conservative Christians are not following Christian doctrine.
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
