If It Isn't One Thing

It's Another. Ever notice how things happen all at once? Makes me wish for the days of boredom and quiet...

Part Time work
Now that I'm working, I don't seem to do much else. It's only part time, but after a few hours, you just want to sit and do nothing. Yesterday my shift was from 12-8 and I discovered that EVERYONE shops for groceries on Sunday. I never left the cash register. I got a dinner/lunch break, but that was the only time I wasn't ringing up and bagging. Now that may not sound challenging, and it isn't really, it's just that I was moving for 7 hours. When I came home, I went straight to sleep!

Caulking...still
Thought I had it, but it seems the shower doesn't get dry enough for the caulk to solidify. So what I've done is let it dry for about 18 hours, I'm putting up another shower curtain on the wall side of the shower and covering the rest with plastic. I have to use the shower, so I can't let it cure the way it's supposed to. So I got up this morning, caulked the wall and went to Home Depot to find a tension rod and a cheap shower curtain. I looked and looked and found a skinny tension rod, was exchanging pleasantries with a customer who wanted to talk, went to the register outside and got in line. The clerk dropped the customer's credit card and couldn't find it. After helping for a few minutes, I went inside. The self-checkout lines were closed, the 2 lines open were long. I put the rod back and left (I didn't want to pay $6 for a shower liner). I then went to Target to find the equipment and ended up paying almost $20 for a tension rod and curtain. When I got in line at Target, the cashier had problems with threading the paper on her reciept printer. What should have taken a few minutes took over an hour. So now I have to fix the shower, take a shower, write some letters and go to work.

Job Hunt
One of the letters I have to write is for a job with the DOL. They want to use snail mail, so I also have to find postage. I don't mail much anymore, I have all my bills electronically sent and use email of telephone when I have to communicate. Good Old Government job!
I've also been communicating with a woman who is a hiring manager for another government job with the CDC. I got a lead for a Business Analyst Yahoo group from my sister, signed up and posted a message. She got in touch with me and will work with me on my resume. Yeah!
I also have a contact at Home Depot who will give me names of hiring managers when I find something I like. Right now they have a hiring freeze on, but Back In The Day MCI hired me during a hiring freeze.

Medical Insurance, Ba Humbug.
I have to deal with the insurance company today before I make a doctors appointment for my surgery. I don't need any 'suprises' after this is done. I know skin cancer is No Big Deal, but it is Cancer and it is happening to ME! I had a bad day on Saturday, but I'm OK now. So I'm sure I'll have some stories about this ride!

Who are your working with at CDC? Let me know if I can help with any back ground info.

I'm really sorry about the SC, but very happy you noticed early. I'm just waiting for the day I notice something strange. Blue eyes, blond hair, fair skin and the sun just don't mix.
