This is Why I don't do Hardware!

Resolution on alot of fronts: Ernesto was a bust, Karr is innocent (sort of), the Lebense and Israeli's are still fighting, we're still in Iraq, but the kids are in school, airfare and hotel prices will now go down to 'off-season' levels, and the temperature will drop. Everything balances out...

Hurricane Ernesto?
So South Florida partied and just got really, really wet. So we all sigh, and life goes on. Hopefully, next time, people will listen and do the right thing instead of ignoring the officials. The Big One Is Coming. Just keep your fingers crossed that Ernesto doesn't pick up any strength when it goes out on the open water, enroute to Charleston.
And a Good Note: Palm Beach county has a pet-friendly evacuation shelter! That's why a lot of people don't evacuate, they have to leave their pets behind. It's brand new, but this is an issue that appeared after Hurricane Andrew, and they are just now addressing it? At least they DID address it.

John Karr
OK, so he's innocent of the JonBenet murder. That he confessed he saw. What a wacko. Now that they've got an obviously disturbed individual in custody, they are trying to find something to keep. Not really what the Constitution and/or Bill of Rights is all about, but I don't think anyone really has any problem with getting this looney locked up.

To the FAA (and a lot of businesses):
See what happens when you try to save money vs. safety of the customers?

Job Hunt
It's been a VERY DRY summer. But I guessed things would open up in September and I got 2 replies to the 8 resumes I sent out on Monday. So at least someone is reading my resume. One was a company here in Atl, the other was a company in DC. I guess I now have to take responsibility for what I've been saying about moving. I'm not done with the Atl, yet. There's still plenty of opportunities here, and I haven't gotten too discouraged yet. I'm also looking in Jacksonville, FL. I'm not ready to leave Atl yet, but if the beach came up, I'd be more interested in moving.

Relocating
Just the thought of packing up ALL my stuff, moving to a new area with no support system is scary. I've done it twice, but I was much younger then. It takes about 5 years to find a 'network' of friends, people you can just to hang out with. Back In The Day, you could always find people to go to bars with, people at work or in the social group of the month. But now, I don't do bars much, and I'm probably not going to meet men or women my age at bars. Oh, there will be women my age, but the men will be all over the 20- or 30-somethings. People at work don't do Happy Hours like they used to. Even up till the time I worked at GTE MobileNet in the late 1990's, I could find someone to go get a drink with. Then I moved on to smaller shops who hired people from the Far Suburbs with families who had to get home. And the DUI laws got tougher.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
