A New Attitude

Sorry about yesterday, I'll try to be more positive from now on. I just gotta...

Movie Review
I saw 'The Libertine' with Johnny Depp last night. What a strange movie. I love historical period movies, and I love Johnny Depp with long hair, and last night was just great! He portrayed John Wilmont, Earl of Rochester, part of the Restoration Court (mid-17th Century, after Charles II was restored to the throne). Evidently, Charlie was quite a randy kinda guy, so his court for the first years of his reign was quite morally bereft. John Wilmont reminds me of a hasher friend of mine, he lived for sex and drink and pleasure, with anyone, at anytime. The movie was billed as the story of a pornographer, but John Wilmont was more a poet. I'm not sure what my expectations were, but this movie was more a story about how a great mind was wasted. The message I got was that John Wilmont could have been a great statesman, if he'd only applied himself. Instead he wasted his time in wenching and partying. The Earl of Rochester died at 33 of complications from syphillis, and Johnny Depp did a very effective visual of a man wasted by this disease. So this wasn't a bad movie as I learned something, but it was difficult to follow some of the story line, the script wasn't that good, the photography was interesting, but the music was good. The movie was filmed darkly, with lots of flickering lights, just like candlelight would have been. Kinda weird. All said, this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and the Eye Candy, up until the pox started showing, was remarkable. I'm renting 'Quills' about the Marques de Sade, another historical period movie, and I've heard this is a horrible flick. We'll see.

Cynthia McKinney
I've heard she's sweating now. She didn't show up for any of the candidates debates as she thought it was all wrapped up, but since Hank forced her into a runoff, she's worried. She's got a new campaign manager. Good try, lady, but methinks you will NOT be going back to Washington next fall.

Atlanta Tourist
My friend Barbara and I are planning on spending a Saturday downtown soon. We want to go to the 'Bodies' exhibit and then check out the Martha Mitchell house. I'd like to see Atlanta from a tourist point of view, maybe take a guided tour somewhere. There's lots of cool stuff we, as residents, don't know or care about. I've been to the Oakland Cemetary, CNN, World of Coke, Turner Field, Olympic Park, but never the King Memorial, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ga Aquarium or the Swan House. And that's all the sites I know about, I'm sure there are so many others.

Nothing to say about the Job Hunt, so I won't.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
