I haven't been able to post lately as I was on Vacation! I decided to visit the Parental Units and celebrate my sisters' birthday with the family. It really turned out OK, I had a good time, it was a cathartic vacation.
Driving Home
The drive to DC was a bit shorter than usual as I had a friend riding with me. I dropped her off in Durham, NC and went on to DC by myself. The Springfield Interchange (where I95,I395 and I495 all come together. also known as the Mixing Bowl) was quite interesting. So much has changed. I drove up the road that I grew up on and realized I don't know anyone there any more. The Kiblers and Hollohans are gone, all the kids I grew up with. Kinda sad.
B&B's, Wine and Old Musicians
Tuesday, my College Buddy and sisters' roommate Diane and I went on an adventure. She wanted to do an informational interview with a B&B in nearby Leesburg so we went together. She's in a similar situation as I am (unemployed and seriously looking) and this was something she's interested in doing. We drove out there and no one was around. An absolutely gorgeous home down a dirt and gravel road in a beautiful part of the country. We attempted to find a wine tasting since this was Wine Country in Virginia, but it being Tuesday nothing was open. We had lunch in Leesburg and visited a jewelry store where the propietor is Les Thompson, a former Nitty Gritty Dirt Band member. Diane is also a singer and is looking to record a demo. Diane and I are also Dirt Band fans, having seen them many times since college. She sings a lot of country and bluegrass, having a lovely voice in the range of Patsy Cline. So we talked to Les for about an hour. What a great guy! Very interesting to talk with, funny and very accomodating. We then went to find some wine and ended up talking with a bartender for awhile. We then were off to have Sushi. I'm one of the few friends Diane has the likes Sushi, so we took advantage of the opportunity! All in all it was a great day, driving around in beautiful countryside with good company. I'm sad that that doesn't happen more often, too many of my friends have homes and need to work on them with any free time.
Job Hunt
While I was gone, I got 2 phone calls in response to resumes I sent out, so I must end this blogging and try to find a job. Bummer. More later!
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
