Sorry about the tone of yesterdays post. I was upset about Misty, but I'm maintaining now. I'm determined to make her time left as good as possible. My question is, how do you spoil an already spoiled cat??
What is Truth?
There's been a lot of press coverage (at least locally) about what truth is and means. Published yesterday in the AJC was an editorial by one of my favorite writers, Leonard Pitts, Jr . He wrote of how the truth can be entrepretated the best way to suit specific needs. Some people say the press is 'liberal' some say it's 'conservative'. Maybe they're both right and it's a good catalyst for what the real truth is. We naturally lean towards what we find comfortable and people and ideas we believe in. For someone or something to present ideas different from our own causes cognitive dissonance in our lives. I think Rush Limbaugh is a hate-mongering bag of hot air, and I don't like his conclusions on almost everything. But I know enough to realize he's not a liar, he's interpretating the facts to fit his own ideals. I don't have to listen to him. I know lots of people who don't read the AJC as it's a 'liberal rag'/'conservative rag'. I think they do a pretty good job, they present both sides of arguments, with both conservative and liberal editorials. Maybe they 'bury' some stories, but sensationalism sells. And I'm not a layout editor so I don't know if they do that purposfully or not.
So where does one go for the truth? Is there no magazine or newspaper or webpage that will report the news as facts? I suppose you could read several representations of each news item and draw your own conclusions, but who's got time?? Who's got time to write a blog?? OK, so I guess I'll have to get back to work....
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
