Rainy Days and Mondays

That would be a song by the Carpenters. Anyone remember the Carpenters?? I was reading over some of my blog titles since I started, and most of them relate to how awful Monday's are and how great Friday's are. There is something so wrong about living for the weekend....

Accomplishments
I got all but one of my 'projects' done this weekend. I put up my lovely new tiffany lamp in the dining room, I FINALLY fixed the bifold doors on the laundry room, and I installed a new sink stopper in the bathroom. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I've been putting most of these things off for quite awhile. So Wednesday I have some friends coming over and we are 'designing' a new kitchen. We'll plan the cabinets, what has to be moved and where and that way I can get an idea about how much it will cost. This all started with the fact that I have a contractor coming over to enlarge the door between the living room and dining room. I can't get that done just yet, till I decide what I really want to do. Baby steps.

Assault on Roe v. Wade
With Alito probably being confirmed, there's lots of talk about overturning Roe v. Wade. Georgia is launching their own attack, in light of the Supreme Court overturning the parental notice ruling in New Hampshire. This is so wrong. Cynthia Tucker wrote a great editorial in the AJC yesterday, calling for more contraception education. Roe v. Wade should be upheld, but it shouldn't be necessary. There should be NO unwanted children born in the US. In an ideal world, this would be the case, no kids born to unwed mothers, no teenage pregnancies, everyone who has sex is willing to accept the consequences and form a loving union. BullSh*t. Society still has 'macho' idealism where it's cool for a man to have many partners. I know men(boys) who are proud of the fact they have sex with every woman they meet. And the GOP and the Christian right don't want anyone to know about birth control. All these men are making decisions that directly effect me. (OK, so I don't have babies, and I will soon be out of the baby making years) But who suffers with an unwanted pregnancy? If abortion was illegal, the woman would have to risk an illegal procedure or spend time and money on a baby to be adopted. They would loose time in their career, they may be too young to have decent medical insurance. I'm not thinking high school kids, I'm thinking young professional women. I know, this is 'immoral' behavior, but guess what? It happens. A lot. It always did, they just didn't talk about it as much.

Travel again!
I have an opportunity to go to Scotland in August to see the Military Tatoo. How exciting! I've been to Edinburgh and loved it! I have to check out the entire itinery and I don't think we'll be going to Northern Scotland, the Orkney Islands, but I'd love to see that area. I've invited both my sisters, but I doubt either one of them will make it. Hopefully, I'll be suprised.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
