Impeach Bush!!

There, I said it. He's lied, ignored the Constitution, blocked investigations and gotten us involved in a war we had no business getting into. The only thing he hasn't done(as far as we know) is an intern with a cigar. I read an article today reporting on how the Bush Administration is aggressively searching for faith-based organizations that preach abstinence to assist in the global war on AIDS. He wants to give church groups government money to go into foreign countries where AIDS is a problem and teach them to not have sex. Condom usage will be down played. Some of these countries aren't Christian countries, and most do not have the same beliefs that we do: the role of marriage is looked at differently as is the role of women. To teach them that marriage and abstinence is sacred is to in effect, convert them to Christianity. I just saw the Shakespeare Taven's performance of 'Merchant of Venice' and they were all scared of the public's perception of the treatment of Jews. So Shylock was portrayed as evil, but the perception back at that time was just that. Venice, England and most of Europe didn't think too highly of Jews. They'd been kicked out of England at least once. (And the reason they thought this way was due to Christianity, but that's another rant..) Anyway, the way the characters in the play resolved any problems was to force Shylock to become a Christian. Why can't the Bush administration recognize they aren't going to remembered as 'Defenders of the Faith' and to realize the problem isn't who these people pray too, it's social practices and lack of education. Let's fix these problems, then maybe they'd begin to think differently about Christianity.

I am not agnostic or atheist. I spent some time in the church learning about the Bible and church ideals. Sometimes, the 2 aren't congruent, but we, as church go-ers have to live with it. I believe in Jesus Christ, and have been baptized as an adult. I don't believe in organized religion as it exists in most major religions today. I do believe that Christianity, Islam and Judehism are very similar, they all got started in the same area of the world and the basic beliefs are the same. I don't think either religion is better, just better for you. I knew a girl who grew up as a Jehovah's Witness. She left the church, moved to South Florida, got involved with drugs and unhealthy relationships. She moved back North, got involved with the church again, and I hope got her stuff together. I don't agree with some of the Jehovah's Witness ideas, but if this helped her get her life together, I'm not going to talk her out of it. I respect other people's choice of Spiritual guidance and I think it says a lot when people have some spiritual guidance.

New faces, new Ideas
I had a very pleasant weekend, getting to know new people. I went to the Shakespeare Tavern on Friday and afterwards went to the Graveyard in East Atlanta with 2 new friends. On Saturday, I ran the PineLake hash and ended up partying at another friends house with different people. I also was the only sober one there, which is always interesting. When left about 9:30, there were 10 naked people in a 6-man hot tub, so I'm sure it got more interesting as the evening wore on...

More to Come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
