Christmas, Bah Humbug

I watched a TV Show last night ('Bones' on Fox) and it's about a workaholic, single woman. She doesn't seem to have a life, all she does is her job. Last night was the 'Christmas' show and the premise was that a group of co-workers were in isolation for 2 days, Christmas eve and Christmas Day. Each person could have visitors come by to see them and, of course, everyone had someone come by, except this woman. Mainstream society seems to think that single people are all lonely and sad at this time of year. I say 'Bah Humbug'! Life is what you make it. If you want to be lonely, go right ahead. There are so many things to do and there are a LOT of people out there looking to make a connection of some type this time of year. Just make the effort. It doesn't substitute for family, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Cable TV and the Menu selection

Recently, I've heard mention of cable TV offering the ability to pick and choose the channels you receive. What an amazing idea!! I don't need all the sports channels that I'm paying for and I don't need the kiddie programming that I'm paying for. I'd like to be able to pick the channels that I want and pay accordingly. Cable says it's too difficult for them and too costly. It's a software issue, not a hardware issue. Just reprogram your distribution software.

Wintery Mix

The weather people are predicting rain and freezing temperatures today thru tomorrow morning. Oh No! I must leave work at noon and run to the store to get my milk and bread! Lets hope it's not a slow news day, so we get to hear 75 different takes on the icey roads in North Georgia!

More to come...

As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

A la carte programming is a critical mass issue, not just a software issue. In theory it sounds great. However, a lot of channels people like would never survive if they weren't purchased in package deals. btw- I work in the satellite tv world.
