I did publish a post yesterday, but it's not here! If I log in I can find it, but none of my other posts. Hhuuummmm.... It's that IT Ghost, you know, the one that changes the code on programs, or changes the way the program runs ('But it's never done that before!' or 'I've always been able to do that, why can't I do that now?') I'll see if I can duplicate the error, and if so check it out, if not, as most IT folks will tell you, 'It's not a problem if you can't duplicate it.'
Giving Religion A Bad Name
This article in the AJC today about the church in Kansas that pickets fallen soldiers funerals with signs reading 'God is Your Enemy' among other things. Seems like this fundamentalist church feels that the war in Iraq is punishment from God for the nations' tolerance of gays. This is a good example of how people can warp any message for their own uses. I'll bet Bill O'Reilly's crew won't say anything about this: Christians protesting at funerals for soldiers. Which side will they choose? Fundamentalists of any religion or school of thought are dangerous.
Supreme Court
I ran across this article on the Huffington Post, which I read occasionally. It's got some good articles, written by some interesting folks. This piece on the balance of the Supreme Court, I felt was pretty interesting. I like it when people actually delve into the meaning of words they use, not just spout of stuff because it sounds good. The author, Geoffrey R. Stone, is a law professor at Chicago University.
Water Issues
Today there is a showdown in Washington between Governors of Ga, Alabama and Florida over the drought and drinking water in Lake Lanier. Why can't we all just get along??? Yes, Ga has some fresh water rivers that feed into Alabama and Florida that they rely on for energy and income, but they have to take their lumps when Ga has a drought and can't get enough water for the Humans living there. Ownership is 9/10's of the law, and we own the source of the water. But, we (Georgia) and the other states need to find someway to replace or reconfigure the situation so that there is another way to do it. I'm not saying improve, you can't improve Monther Nature, but get another way to do it. Just like the quote I used the other day ' But as long as we blame someone else, though we may feel absolved, we are sure not to solve any problems.'
Another Good Quote
This came from 'The Onion's featured 'American Voices'. In reply to the 'news' that Dumbledore , of Harry Potter fame, is gay, 'Larry Hahn' replied ' I've been really busy lately not caring about the sexual preferences of fictional people.' Wow!
More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
