Almost Friday!

It's mid-November! Where does time go??

Thanksgiving Festival
Last Tuesday, my store had a 'holiday party' for our customers. The management staff and some others dressed up in party clothes and we gave out samples of food and some coupons. It was quite interesting. We already have a player piano set up at the front door playing Christmas carols, and at this party we had an employee dressed up as Santa. It's too early for that stuff! It's not even Thanksgiving!!! But it was fun. Some of the cashiers dressed in traditional ceremonial garb for Indians (not Native-Americans). They looked very nice. I'm working with Indians, Ethopians, Eastern Eurpoeans, South Americans and West Indians, just to name a few. Just listening to the languages spoken is very interesting.

Cold and Rainy
I don't think it's going to get really hot again until Spring, so I'll check the filter on my furnace today and be ready to turn the heat on. I've been using a space heater that works quite well, but I'll be ready, just in case. Maybe I should test it, to make sure it does work and I won't have to call a repairman in 20 degree weather. I'm thinking about a fire in the fireplace, but that means I'll have to clean it up later, so I'll wait.

Dekalb County and Deadly Force
Lately there has been some comments about how many times the Dekalb County police have used Deadly Force. I think it's like 12 people have been shot this year. An investigation found that the police were well within the rules in all cases, but some people are asking for more investigations. The CEO of Dekalb county released a statement asking the citizens to put down their guns when asked by police. Now some parties want him to resign. I think that's what every government needs, an ineffective police force. The bad guys can't win. If you are in a situation where you are pulled over by the cops, don't resist arrest, fight back, pull out your gun or knife. Just do what the cops want. Have some sense. I understand that it can get out of control, one guy I work with was biking to work and got stopped by the cops (BWB: Biking While Black), but even if it is a Pain, don't fight, if you've got nothing to hide. I don't fault the cops, but if they pass a law where the cops can't shoot, then what? Just like high-speed chases, if the cops can't chase, all bad guys will drive fast.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
