Making a List, Checking it Twice

I've hit a major roadblock as far as Motivation. I'm going to try to make a list and attempt to get things done that way, but when there is no schedule to stick to, it becomes Pointless.

One Down
I did manage to get something done yesterday. I have an old matress and box springs, a broken desk chair and a trash can full of old siding that I haven't done anything with for a few months. I did manage to call the county and notify them of what I need to discard. They said they can get it taken care of within 3-5 days, and it would have to be out on the curb. I don't really want all that trash laying around in my yard for a week, but that's the best they could do. What the hell, it's been laying around my house for months, what's a few days in the front yard? This is Georgia, after all. Today is trash day, so let's hope they get to it today. I did manage to throw the matress on the weeds, so if it kills them, who cares? The violets will just grow and fill in the blank spots.

'Vanished'
Did you watch that last nigth on Fox? It's a new TV drama that takes place here in the Atl. They use downtown and skyline shots, street and place names, all correctly. It's a procedural-type crime show, with elements of '24'. I believe this will be the only crime to be solved this season, but of course there's lots of plot twists. As the AJC pointed out yesterday, the only real problem is that the 'TV reporter' had a story that happened in Chamblee ( chom-BLEE, like a French restaurant). An issue I have is the racial makeup. Granted, one of the main characters is a Senator, and they live in Buckhead, but very few of the people on the streets and folks working at the reception are black. That's NOT Atlanta.

WanderLust
I'm getting an itch to run away. This is probably exacerbated by the fact I can't go anywhere, but I need to get away. I took a 10 day vacation last summer to Idaho, and then I took a week to go to DC, but I feel the need to run away. I'm thinking St Augustine, FL. I was told that that's a nice, affordable place, and it is close to the beach. I've been there a few times, in driving I-95 from DC to Ft Lauderdale. I've done some preliminary research and it looks like any jobs in the area are located in Jacksonville. When living in South Florida, I never was interested in Jax as it was 'just like the rest of the country'. It got cold and snowed there. But it is further south than Atlanta, so I'm guessing the snow amount is livable, when it happens. Anyone want to take a Road Trip?
I also looked at a RoadTrip to Gatlinburg. I've been there a few times, many years ago. The Ski Club used to go camping not far from there, at Cades Cove. The scenery is gorgeous.

Some excitement in Bleaksburg
Yes, they had to close the Va Tech campus to look for a criminal. I've only known them to close the campus for a snow storm! Can you imagine, the first day of classes and you get stuck in the dorm? I'll bet no one had any beer, either. That sucks. Back a few years ago, when they were debating on placing the Hokies in the SEC, one problem was that no Big Wigs (TV Sports announcers, TV producers, anyone with money) wanted to go to Blacksburg, nothing ever happened there. They stand corrected.

Book Review
I finished my Summer Reading last night. I started Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged' earlier this summer. These last few days, the reading has been rather intense. It is an interesting book, a great concept, but, IMHO, I think she proselytizes too much. But I enjoyed it, it made me think. It was a good book. Next up: 'The Book of Thoth' by Aleister Crowley. It's all about Tarot cards and the mystical interpretations. I'm sure there are some interesting ideas. Besides, if I get good at interpreting the Tarot cards, I could make some money! $10 Tarot readings at parties. Why not? I've dabbled with Tarot cards before, and find it interesting, but I did read somewhere that if you don't believe in it, you can't interpret it correctly. What do you expect for $10???

Which leads us to another Discussion
I alwasy feel uneasy when I attempt anything with the Occult. I'm not a believer, I'm a Believer, but the church tells you that the occult and mysticism is evil and God will punish you. The Organized Church doesn't really like intellectuals (wow, sounds like a book!) because they question the church leaders ideas. I think God gave us a brain to use. I know the Ancient Celts worshipped nature and had feminine Goddesses, and alot of the occult focuses on the same ideas. The Organized Church doesn't seem to like women, except for breeding and eating purposes. I can't accept that. Did you hear that the Baptist church fired a Sunday School teacher because she's a woman? She'd been teaching for 50 years but the Bible says women can't teach men, only other women. And this isn't a Southern Baptist congregation, it's in Upstate New York.

I'll rant about Organized Religion another time, I don't have the time to waste on such tripe.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'

Tarot cards, that sounds like a perfect accompaniment to beer pong for Saturday night.
