Confessions of a hypocrite

I found out this weekend that this blog has a bigger 'fan base' than I thought. How flattering! I also found out that I have to make a confession. I've spouted off about morality and all that, but I don't always do what I say. Yes, I'm a hypocrite, I'm not perfect. (Gasp!) I try to live by my rules, but sometimes I slip. Hey, I'm only human. So as my Dad would always say, 'Do as I say, not as I do.' Great role model.

The Girl Across the Street
Mom called last night to give me the local gossip, this time news about Patti. She was the girl across the street, born in between me and my younger sister, a year younger than me. We were playmates all through elementary school, but no so much thru Jr. High and High School. My sister and I were college bound, and Patti had a tough time with high school. She married just after high school and had a baby girl. Thru the years, we'd hear about her or talk to her and get the 'gossip'. She actually set my sister up on a double date with she and her husband. Polly hated it, talking about the guy she went out with as having 'green teeth'. Shortly after this incident, Patti divorced Husband #1 and married Green Teeth. They had a boy, then another boy. Turns out Green Teeth wanted a girl, so they kept trying, having 4 boys, in total. I really don't know what kind of work either one did, but I realized at a certain educational level, you just don't think about how you're going to provide for the children you create. So anyway, after about 10 or so years, she divorced Green Teeth, and eventually married again. I saw her and her older brother one time recently when I was home, their father had passed away and they were selling the house. So now I hear she divorced #3 and married again! And had another baby. From what the neighors say, he's an older man, with money. Whatever that means. So here is this 47 year old woman with 6 kids, the oldest being close to 30, a husband at least over 50 and a new born. I asked Mom if she was sure the baby was Patti's and not her grandchild. Who's thinking in this relationship and What are they thinking??!!!

An Anniversary
If you watched any television this weekend, you'd know it was the one year anniversary of the Shootings at the Fulton County Courthouse. Horrible thing, but an extremely SLOW news weekend. I don't need any more interviews with Ashley Smith or any of the families of the victims. And not to be too cold hearted, but the deputy that was beaten and severly injured is now sueing Fulton County. Hey, she wasn't doing her job. Why should she sue?

Another Anniversary
I survived a major car accident on March 8, 1988. Yeah me! I was driving a 1985 Honda Accord and was t-boned by a older model Buick. Totaled both cars. I spent 30 days in the hospital and a total of 3 months recuperating. Seems like ancient history. While I was in the hospital, there was a similar accident at the same intersection and the driver was killed. I suffered some broken bones and a concussion. So that will explain a lot of my issues, I was hit on the head.

Spring has sprung (almost)
Beautiful weekend, I walked my butt off. I actually did 1/3 of the hash on Saturday, and had a lovely 5 mile walk on Sunday morning with Lisa. The hash was fun, but I seem to recall hashing being more fun that it was. The circle was a bit long, having to ask all 146 people what they thought of the trail. You can only insult the hares so many times. But it was a nice day and it was good to see people and socialize.

More to come...
As things happen, I'll be posting. Thanks for taking the time to read. You're opinions are welcome but if you have to start calling me names, don't bother, I won't read them. As my Dad says 'Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.'
